For 70 years, the Zodiac at Neiman Marcus in the Downtown Dallas location has been the place to dine in Dallas. Housed on the 6th floor of the flagship store, Stanley Marcus first conceived this restaurant as a convenience for out of town customers who were spending a full day shopping in the store.

The Zodiac Room Holiday Buffet is an iconic Dallas tradition. The Store is decorated for the Holidays, the beloved popovers are in the oven and the assortment of Macarons and petite deserts are ready to serve. Each year we say “We could make a meal on just the assortment of delicious salads alone!” But we don’t. We can’t pass up the turkey and dressing, ham, salmon, prime rib, and lamb with all of the traditional sides. Be sure and book early as many Dallasites make lunch at the Zodiac Room a holiday tradition. Thank you Edgar, Laura and the Zodiac Room team for making this luncheon another excellent experience.

I’m so sad to say that we were disappointed today for the annual holiday buffet at Neiman’s. Attending this buffet is one of our family’s traditions that we all look forward to every year. We have been going each year since 2014. We missed the beautiful holiday decorations that always greeted us at the hostess desk and bar area. Instead the decor was replaced with tables that displayed gift items for purchasing. The buffet seemed to lack the same quantity and quality as in past years. And we found it odd that the server kept taking away items from the table that we were still using. I’m sorry to be so negative during this holiday season but, as a loyal customer, I thought it was important to share our experience.

We have been going to the Holiday Buffett for many years. Because they put the 20 percent tip on for a party of six, the service was not as great. The desserts seem to get worse each year and a lot of the food had nuts in it. They used to have unique desserts something special for the holidays. These were not special. For a family with nut allergies to go spend the kind of money they were charging and not be able to eat a lot of it I was disappointed in. Usually when you go to a buffet like this, if you order an ice tea or coffee or Diet Coke they would include that in the price . This was not.
