Ein Besuch in San Francisco ist nicht komplett ohne einen Besuch im Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar. Diese Bar wurde mehrfach für 'San Francisco Best Happy Hour' vom San Francisco Magazine, dem San Francisco Bay Guardian und in jüngster Zeit vom Where Magazine ausgezeichnet. Der Tonga Room bietet außergewöhnliche polynesische Küche in tropischem Ambiente, das auch Donnergrollen und Gewitter umfasst. Es ist die perfekte Auszeit nach einem anstrengenden Tag voller Meetings oder Shopping am Union Square. Probieren Sie auf alle Fälle die Mai Tais, die von Conde Nast Traveler zu den besten der Stadt erkoren wurden. Reservierungen werden nur zum Abendessen entgegengenommen. In der Hurricane Bar und zur Happy Hour werden die Gäste nach dem Wer-zuerst-kommt-mahlt-zuerst-Prinzip platziert. Für alle Gäste, die nach 20:00 Uhr ankommen, wird unabhängig von der Ankunftszeit ein Couvert-Preis erhoben. USD 7 pro Person am Sonntag, Mittwoch und Donnerstag USD 10 pro Person am Freitag und Samstag

I know that things change , but what I thought would be a night out at an adult night club , ended up as a night at some low rent wedding . There were families with babies , teens at a party , 20 something’s in pajamas standing around on the dance floor . The host at the door was not welcoming at all. He was herding the guests into groups . I understand that the hotel or corporation might make more money with this concept , but maybe they could set aside certain nights for a more traditional night out . The band was ok , but not great for dancing . The wait staff is excellent.

Drinks were strong, food was ok. Best dish we had was the mushroom fried rice, beef stir fry, not the best, too salty and steak was not tender

Food is mid at best but drink are yummy. ambiance is amazing with the rain storms. go for drinks and vibe

Awful food. Crazy loud….can’t talk with band playing. Ridiculous pricing. $400 for 5 people hat was only 2 cocktails. Food was bland and boring. The kids chicken tenders were straight up from a frozen bag. I dreamed about coming here for years. I was massively disappointed. My children mocked me because I had told them it was going to be such a cool experience. lol

Iconic San Francisco spot. Fun to bring out of towners, but pricey and not necessarily worth the money. They charge a cover when there’s a live band playing. The food is not their strong suit, unfortunately. The cocktails are sweet and strong. Come for the ambiance and to check the box.

My first time at the Tonga Room. It was awesome! I will be back to celebrate my birthday in November!

Many years ago was a great and unique restaurant. Every 30 minutes the lights were turned down, the band float moved to shore. Then speaker sent out wind noises, the sprinklers sent rain down into the pool, and lighting flashed and thunder roared. Very Disneyland like. Now lights hardly turned down, sprinklers come on when ever, and may or may not have wind noise, very week thunder and because lights on on full, impossible to see the lightening. It is now a restaurant with a big water filled hole in the center. Food was precooked, not very good. Cocktails tasted like they were poured out a a premix bottle. If you want to go, visit when the (not very good) band is not playing to save the $15/person cover charge. It is a shame what they have done to what was once a real San Francisco experience of one of the original Tiki Bars. Sadly, Trader Vic's, a contemporary is also gone. San Diego now has the best West Coast Tiki Bars.
