The internationally acclaimed Whaling Station Steakhouse, perched just above Steinbeck’s Cannery Row has been Monterey County’s #1 Steak House for over 50 years, The Whaling Station takes the term “Steakhouse” seriously...Select your USDA Prime cut of the USA’s finest beef from a silver tray or enjoy our slow-roasted USDA Prime, Prime Rib. An award-winning wine list and full spirits bar compliment your dining experience. Serving Dinner and cocktails from 4:30pm daily. The Bar at The Whaling Station Steakhouse has its own menu and its own local following, with drink specials and lively conversation served nightly. Parking in our private lot.

    Celebrated a birthday. Great place to do so. Was not too busy as we went on a Thursday. I put that we had a child and they were very accommodating there is a kids menu which I forgot to take a picture of. Kids menu consist of steak, chicken, pasta marinara or creamy. I think it was salmon and chips. My daughter got the creamy fettuccine with shrimp 👌🏾. Before we ordered our server (I'm so sorry I cannot remember his name I think it started with an "S") Took out drink order then came back to show us the different cuts of steak they had from Nebraska. This was the birthday celebrants first time at the Whaling Station and it did no disappoint. Thank you staff!

    We are always greeted warmly with a big smile. The food is consistently great so we are sure of what to expect. There is no better service anywhere.

    Food was ok. Our waiter was bad. We asked for some onion soup and he told my wife no we didn’t need it and it was too much food. Later in the dinner, we asked for a minute to review the dessert selection and the waiter decided to ignore us the rest of the night. Waited over 15 minutes before deciding for our check. Was the worst dinner experience. Stay away! Not worth the price they expect you to pay to eat there. We spent over $200 for dinner and it was horrible experience!

    I have been to the Whaling Station for the main menu and the bar menu. Prime rib, ribeye and filet are wonderful. Caesar salad made at the table is an event. As great as the main menu is, I actually prefer the bar menu. Not just for price, but it suits me as less formal and quite an upgrade from one would expect for bar food. The hamburger, prime rib french dip and filet medallions are really fantastic in a relaxed, yet upscale environment. Don't need to sit at the bar for this menu, however I would suggest it. I have brought family and friends here, no one left disappointed...really a classic steakhouse in Monterey and only a couple blocks off Cannery Row.

    I am a local and have been coming to this restaurant for many years. I would consider it my favorite restaurant. Tonight I was sorely disappointed. I had the cowboy steak it was medium rare as I requested. The steak tough and tasteless. My son’s prime rib which he ordered medium rare arrived overcooked closer to well done. My family has never sent meals back. We suffered through. I did provide a generous tip to the wait staff as they work hard. We will not be going back. I would rather donate the money than spend the close to $500.00 that I paid for dinner for 4.
