Im Jahr 1969 schuf ein Kunsthandwerker, der schon bei Disneyland für Furore sorgte, einen romantischen Rückzugsort im Untergeschoss des alten California Hotels. Das The Cellar bietet die perfekte Kulisse für einen gemütlichen, romantischen Abend mit gehobener Küche. Freuen Sie sich auf delikate französische Speisen und lassen Sie sich in bequemen, weichen Polstersesseln nieder, die mit geschmeidigem Leder bezogen sind und samtene Lehnen bieten. Das angenehme Ambiente wird durch gedämpfte Beleuchtung unterstrichen. Der Speisesaal ist gemütlich und behaglich eingerichtet und von gegliederten Bögen und höhlenartigen Wänden umgeben, die mit Weinfässern und silbernen Laternen dekoriert sind.     Dined here with two friends for my birthday. I had dined here once before two months ago and returned because of the lobster bisque. The first time I also ordered a medium rare filet mignon, it was under seasoned. Last night I ordered the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. The skin was crisp and the fish was juicy cooked perfectly to about a medium well. The cranberry sauce it came with was winner. We were able to order the seasonal pumpkin old fashioned, which I lived on my first visit. My friend also loved it. My other friend ordered the spicy mezcal cocktail, something bells. That was also great! We also ordered a steak tartare to start and it was okay, we felt it needed something other than the egg yolk, maybe a light vinaigrette drizzle. My friend ordered a side Mac and cheese and it was not cheesy. She also ordered a crab cake for her meal as she does not eat a lot, she absolutely loved it. Tartar sauce was very good. She ordered a French onion soup to start and also loved it. We ended the evening with glasses of Bordeaux and the crème brûlée that was on the house for the birthday celebration. Brûlée was amazing. Perfect consistency. Bordeaux was soooo good. My friend ordered an affogato and loved it. Our experience was great, our server was attentive and funny, great vibe and went through the menu nicely. We loved her. The rest itself is very very quiet, you can hear your thoughts even though they somehow have music playing. Beautiful place and table set up.

    Very slow service, our reservation was at 5:30pm, we walked out of there at 8:20pm on a Sunday night. They split a party of 15 into two tables and only had one server working both of them. Everything took a very long time. We had to ask for menus at some point just to get going with the dinner orders at around 6:30pm.

    This was my boyfriend and I’s first time coming here and we absolutely loved it! Service was amazing, our server even told us a fun fact about how the designer for Pirates of the Caribbean also designed this restaurant. Food was outstanding; our choice of appetizer was the French onion and it was delicious, we shared the 18oz creek stone New York with a side of Mac and cheese and it was so filling, I ended up having some leftover. We finished off with the crème brûlée and that was probably my favorite part of the meal. Overall, it’s was a luxurious experience and we certainly will be back!!

    Wanted to like this place and gave every benefit of the doubt. We were 18 minutes late to the 5:30 seating because there was absolutely zero parking nearby and the restaurant is very hard to find within the building complex. They need better signage at the very least. We were told we had to leave by 7:30, but it took 42 minutes to get our appetizer and soup. Our entree arrived at 7:05 and we were rushed through the meal. Our water glasses were empty the majority of the time, and we did not get our glasses of wine until halfway through our entree. There were 8 seats open at the table across from us the entire time, yet we were constantly rushed.

    Wife’s favorite place. Been there for several years now, for anniversaries n birthdays. we come form Las Vegas just for dinner here, This was the first time hostess didn’t pass the guest notes to server, (We work in industry too) She didn’t follow my request like before. The host saw the reservation notes when we arrived and ask if there was any special occasion as she walk us to our table, the notes said… “Birthday”. She should known that from the notes. We didn’t get the shampange glasses I ask for (like before), My wife knows the shampange it’s coming, but the “surprise shampange” its a nice touch. We didn’t get it. Which was on the notes. The server disappeared for a while (could have been busy, and I understand that. But without our shampange glasses we were just wating even without water) We got a delicious complementary creme brulee birthday desert on top of the dessert we ordered, but i think it was because my wife told the hostess we were celebrating her birthday. Over all was delicious food as always and we love the place but we felt somewhat ignored from our server. Since she didn’t know it was a big deal for us, to come from a different state just to celebrate here my wife’s birthday, and not follow the simple request I did (which has been done before more then once). We will come back in a few months, and I hope this time we don’t feel as neglected.

    Great for cocktails and dessert but the food was just okay. The prices are really overpriced for food. You could dine at a much nicer restaurant for those prices. I recommend most places in Newport and the prices are the same, but portions will be larger and the food will be better. There are too few options on the menu for food. Definitely a great dessert spot, but a great dinner spot. Soufflés are wonderful. Stick with dinner at a neighboring restaurant and come for drinks and dessert.

    NYE prix fixe menu was disappointing value for $125pp plus tax and tip. The menu, food quality, portions, plating were really disappointing. The first course was literally a single oyster for me, and 3 mediocre escargots for her. Lobster tail was meh. Even the chocolate soufflet was good, but we wouldn’t come back for it. Our server was lovely and the vibe is very special.
