The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

As always, fantastic. A place you never want to leave. And our food was spectacular. My chicken caesar salad was delicious. Can't wait to return

The first time we visited the Cat I said “this is the nicest pub I’ve ever been to. Today was the same - the most striking first impression is the team who run the dining areas: they obviously enjoy what they’re doing and love working together with a happy buzz. And the food is delicious, the venison haunch especially. Looking forward to eating here again soon - Nigel and the birthday party.

Each time we come, it’s a delight. Staff members are caring and lovely, the place is really nice and the food is just amazing. Thank you very much that was spot on.

Always a fantastic experience at the Cat! As a local, and regular, it’s my go to place all the time. Highly recommended.

Normally a very reliable choice for Sunday lunch but sadly not this time. Food not up to the usual high standard, ditto service (we were seated in the very busy bar area and completely forgotten about) and the least said about the selfish crowd of people next to us the better. Perhaps it’s time to explore other local options. Shame.

We are sorry you felt the food was not up to scratch on Sunday, yet you chose not to mention it on the day. You decided to sit in the bar area, and not the table we had reserved for you. It’s Christmas and the bar is fortunately busy, getting to you for service is not so easy as I believe you appreciated and said when you departed.
