Sadly our chicken schnitzel was burnt and hard on the underside and very greasy- there was grease all over the plate. I did eat mine as I was very hungry but it was not nice. My friend couldn't eat her as the grease made her feel sick. I told the waitress we had not enjoyed the meal, explaining why. She offered us a free drink, which was nice, but we didn't want one. We decided to order desserts, but when my friend's meringue desert arrived it was crushed badly with bits of morale all over the plate! However, it tasted very good and there were no complaints in that regard. The service was good and the waitresses polite and helpful. I have eaten at this restaurant before and it was a very different experience as it was a lovely meal with no complaints at all. I'm not sure what happened today.

What a lovely pub ! Food was delicious, sticky toffee pudding to die for ! The waiting staff were really pleasant and we had a lovely time.

We were made to feel very welcome on Xmas day and were surprised by a glass of champagne, thoughtful gift and Xmas card on arrival. During our meal, we were very well looked after by patient, cheerful, attentive staff. The ambience was festive and we really enjoyed our visit.

From start to finish we had a lovely time! We were given a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival. At our table was a dairy box of chocolates and a personal Christmas card, which was a lovely touch. The staff were all attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t feel hurried at all, and we had a very relaxing time. The food was outstanding!! Piping hot, and plenty of it. We couldn’t fault a thing.

I’ve eaten here before and the food was lovely but this time I took my family for a roast dinner for a birthday celebration and the food was poor. I saw someone else’s plate of food (roast) with what looked liked boiled potatoes on it so I then added the crispy rosemary roast potatoes as a side as I like a good roast potato with my roast dinner. Sadly what we got was far from crispy, I’ve never eaten such awful roast potatoes before, it was like a boiled potato in a soggy cardboard skin, the side order of potatoes was exactly the same as what came on the roast dinner also. My family commented how poor they were, the rest of the dinner was also average with a minuscule amount of bread sauce, chicken was on the dry side, Yorkshire not great and veg was so so. I ended up leaving all the roast potatoes on my plate. I will add being close to Christmas they were very busy so I am hoping that is why the food was not good, the service was fine. I will never go back there for a roast dinner but will try again from the normal menu at a time when they aren’t likely to be so busy.

Had a very good meal when The Owl first reopened. The festive menu was a bit disappointing. Generous portions of meat but would have liked more variety of vegetables. Had to ask for our starter as it was already pre-booked and after half an hour of sitting at the table, there was no sign of any food! Our servers were nice, polite and helpful when asked. The pudding was a bit disappointing too. Hoping the normal menu will prove a safer bet in the future.

Had a lovely lunch and catch up with our besties at this pub. Have visited there many times and have never been disappointed with the food, service and ambiance. It’s quite expensive but then where isn’t, so very happy to recommend this venue as a great place to meet friends and family.
