Zio Peppe is where tradition meets innovation, serious collides with playful, and gourmet converges with casual. Zio Peppe means “Uncle Joe’ in Italian, and just like a beloved “funcle” – a fun uncle, Zio Peppe will make sure all are welcome, and everybody is having a good time.

Zio Peppe is a collaboration between Chef Devon Sanner and Chef Mat Cable. Our menu is anchored in Italian-American classics of pizza and pasta, but draws heavy influence from the foods and flavor profiles of Tucson and the Sonoran region.

Sanner joins forces with Cable after having cooked under Tucson culinary legend Janos Wilder for the past 15 years, serving as chef at Janos, JBAR, Downtown + Cocktails, and The Carriage House.

Zio Peppe, which means “Uncle Joe” in Italian, is in part a tribute to Cable’s uncle, Joe Sottosanti, who opened Tucson’s first Sicilian pizza place, Tesseo’s Pizzeria, nearly 50 years ago.

The staff was wonderful. The general manager was very gracious and amazing how they tend to do many busy tables, and get to everyone. We are very pleased and will be back often!

Best place we ate at while in Tucson. I had the ravioli and it had just the right amount of spice to create a delicious favor. Highly recommend

We did not eat here. I only rated this restaurant so that I could report that upon entering the building we immediately were hit with the smell of sewage. The staff did not acknowledge it. We left before ordering. When we called to speak with the manager our call was routed to a line but wasn’t answered. We did eat at Cork just west of Zio Pepe & had a great meal.

The food was excellent and creative. Our server Maria was one of the best we've had in a long time. She's an asset to the business.

This was our first visit to Zio since the original owner left. In some ways we think there's been an improvement, particularly with some minor but effective changes to the ambiance. The food we had was very good...up to the standards we would expect. We plan to return soon.

Food was delicious. Service was excellent. We have eaten here several times and each Time the food has always been tasty and good proportions. Service is prompt, professional, and Pleasant. Highly recommended
