Have been here a number of times including New Years Eve when it was very crowded. Always had a good experience. Last night was a major exception. After being seated, our server came over to fill our water glasses and spilled water on the menu and table. No apology or attempt to wipe it up. Then we waited over 35 minutes for her to take our cocktail/dinner order. Drinks came out 5 minutes before the appetizers. Spacing was way off. Okay…let’s see how the meal is. Chopped salad was not chopped and the mixed grill had shrimp essentially raw that was inedible. Very disappointed with this experience at a fine dining restaurant. Just seemed way off the mark from previous visits.

From the manager who greeted us through the weight staff and the servers everybody gave excellence service. all of our food was well prepared, delicious, and quite satisfying.

Great atmosphere, wonderful food, booth in front of the fireplace was awesome. Amanda is an excellent server!!! We will be back!

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner on Saturday night the 8th of February. The beet salad was delicious and just the right size. My husband enjoyed his chopped salad that included squash last night but couldn't finish it and felt they overdid the onions a bit. The Grilled Branzino was just outstanding and served with the tail and it was suggested the skin was edible as well. The only reason that we didn't was because the seasoning was a bit too salty to eat, but we did not find it overpowering on the meat of the fish. The portion was large and we both brought half home to enjoy the next day. We shared a hot chocolate brownie-like cake circle with dulce de leche gelato that was the perfect ending to the meal. The restaurant was busy when we arrived for our reservations at 7 pm and we left at 9 pm. That may be normal for this restaurant but we did find the service slow and sometimes difficult to get the attention of our waitstaff when the garlic mashed potatoes arrived cold (however it was returned reheated nicely). There were other fish dishes on the menu that we will definitely be back to enjoy but will try to get earlier reservations to accommodate the relaxed timing of the meal.

Beautiful atmosphere! The fireplace and view at Cape Porpoise is outstanding. Our first time here since they changed ownership. The food is excellent and the service was awesome. Our server Amanda was very attentive and helpful. Go there as you will not be disappointed!!!!

It was snowing the night we went and it provided a wonderful backdrop to our evening. We’ve dined many times at The Lost Fire (which we love), but it was our first time here. Food, service and ambiance were amazing. Will definitely return - again and again. Thank you for a great evening!
