   definitely not ready for prime time. Poor service and tables crowded too close together. Can't say about the food because it never came before we got tired of waiting and left.

   I recently visited The Sequel after hearing great things about their modern decor and exciting menu — and I have to say, the first impressions did not disappoint. The space is beautifully designed: sleek, stylish, and welcoming. The atmosphere feels lively but not overwhelming, perfect for a night out. The menu itself is fantastic, offering a range of creative dishes that are both visually stunning and full of flavor. The cocktails deserve a special mention — expertly crafted, balanced, and some of the best I've had in a long time. Whoever is running the kitchen and bar clearly knows what they're doing. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. After being seated, it took over 20 minutes for a server who checked us in to even acknowledge our table . When she finally arrived, there was no greeting or apology for the delay. Instead, we were met with an impatient, almost annoyed "Have you made any decisions yet?" as if we were inconveniencing her. Throughout the meal, the server was curt, inattentive, and seemed to be deliberately ignoring our table unless absolutely necessary. The restaurant was half empty It really put a damper on an otherwise amazing experience.

   Service was fine. Food, Rack of Lamb was a little tough, and only four racks. We're used to getting six. Table was small with large groups all around us in a rather smallish room. Quite loud! Kind of an odd set up. Lounge & eating area at the front, then kind of go through a maze to the rear of the building to another smallish eating area. All and all was good/okay. Nothing poor about the evening. However we won't be rushing back there.

   The Sequel was an amazing place to dine. Enjoyed their $30 surf and turf promotion.

   Very good food and ambience. Service was a little iffy but considering it a “soft” opening expect the glitches will be solved the next time we’re there. Nice addition to the area. Will definitely be back.

   I sort of chose The Sequel at random. They had open 7 PM tables three days before our visit (you can’t book those at Nightingale a month out) and they had Beef Wellington on the menu. When we got there we found the place was sort of an upper mid-scale in decor…business casual maybe. We are whiskey cocktail drinkers. The Sequel had a good selection of whiskey. The two signature whiskey cocktails did not interest us, so we ended up having “classics”, an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan. Kudos to the bartender for mixing a great Manhattan…a perfect mixture of rye and sweet vermouth. We ordered a charcuterie board for two. It was ok. It had four kinds of meat in fairly large portions , but only two types of cheese. My suggestion, cut back the amount of meat and add one to two more cheeses, and maybe some sort of jam. We also ran out of bread halfway through the board. To be fair, we did not ask for more, but then again the server might have noticed and asked if we wanted more. For our mains, we had The Sequel’s Signature Risotto and yes….Beef Wellington (steak…wrapped in a pastry puff). The risotto was very good and the Wellington was fantastic…better than Hy’s by quite a bit. Probably one of the best I have ever had. No wonder they run out every night. After finishing my classic “continental” dish, I thought we might venture back to a modern flair desert only to be dragged back to the days of dining being an event. There on the menu was Crepe Suzette Flambé. I quizzed our consistently excellent server about the preparation of the dish, “Fire?” “Yes.” “Here?” “Yes…I do it right here at the table.” “Yes, Please!” Great presentation 🔥🔥🔥and great taste. Essentially, the charcuterie board was the only average item we experienced. Everything else was very good to excellent. I definitely recommend The Sequel.

    The Sequel - Kitchen & Bar is an absolute gem in Coal Harbour! From the moment you walk in, you're transported into a beautifully curated space that blends modern elegance with a vintage jazz-inspired ambiance—it’s a perfect setting for a memorable meal. The menu is fantastic, offering a great selection of dishes that highlight quality ingredients and expert craftsmanship. The Beef Wellington was perfectly executed, with a buttery, flaky crust and tender, flavorful beef. The foie gras was rich and indulgent, an absolute must-try. I also loved the honey mussels, which were fresh, sweet, and beautifully prepared. The cocktails here are top-notch—balanced, creative, and well-crafted, making them a perfect complement to the meal. The wine list is also impressive, offering a great selection that pairs well with the dishes. Brunch at The Sequel is just as incredible. The menu is thoughtfully curated, and every dish is executed with precision. Whether you're coming for dinner or a relaxed brunch, you're guaranteed a great experience. Service was attentive and welcoming, adding to the already wonderful atmosphere. The Sequel is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food, good cocktails, and a well-designed dining experience. I can’t wait to return!
