“Almost Four Decades of Desert Dining Excellence continues under a new helm”.

As the former owner of the Adobe Garden Hotel and Irongate Restaurant in Palm Desert, Cunard’s in La Quinta, Robert Cunard’s in Palm Desert, and The Prevue in Rancho Mirage, Robert Cunard’s reputation as a restaurateur is well-established in the Coachella Valley.

He rebuilt the Sandbar, and has remained true to his tradition of quality cuisine and impeccable service.

Robert will pass the Helm of The Sandbar to Waldo Cesoni, a local seasoned Restauranteur who is already serving the Coachella Valley with Waldo’s Ristorante and Backstreet Bistro on El Paseo.

“Bob and I share the same passion for taking care of our guests and treat every one as family”, The Sandbar will continue with the same philosophy and culture for many more years to come.

Bill Baker playing music starting at 6:00PM ~ Tuesday through Saturday.

Old school seafarer themed bar and restaurant with excellent cocktails and a fun party atmosphere. Food is excellent Italian fare with pastas, meat and seafood options. Small but mighty dessert menu. Save room for the angel food cake!

Do not get turned off by the outside of this old restaurant. The food is terrific. It’s got old world charm. If you like duck, it’s amazing. The service was great as well.

Our dinner was absolutely fabulous! Three of us had the sautéed sole🛍️👏👏👏‼️ So mouthwatering and delicious ‼️ We sat out on the back patio and had a wonderful evening‼️

It was extremely disorganized, had 4 different servers during the dinner…. We ordered a second glass of wine that came after we finished our meals…server ran it over…. We both ordered a pasta dish, mine was overcooked and pasty, my wife’s overloaded with cheese. Disappointing as we have been here before and have had good experiences…not sure now we would come back again.

My friends wife and I celebrated our same day birthdays 10 years apart. The Sandbar was the best place I’ve eaten in Coachella valley! Our server Katie was professional and had a great personality! She allowed me to adjust the vegetable serving for my veal Marsala dinner that was fantastic! Other dishes chicken piccata, tomato soup with chopped wedge and bacon/ cheese were great too. Drinks did not disappoint We will be back!

Excellent atmosphere, extremely flavorful food, perfect music. Waitstaff situation was confusing and disjointed. Three different parties covered our table. At times waitstaff was MIA. I sense this was the exception vs. the rule. Highly recommend this restaurant, a gem !! .

I really love the Sand Bar. We have had many dinners there with family and friends. It’s kind of retro and fun because of the music and ambience. That said, the night we dined we opted for the Wine room as some of my guests have hearing issues and the music in the dining room was too loud. It was a perfect place to be seated. We shared salads which were good along with the bread. Two guests ordered the sand dabs, one ordered the duck and I had the sole. The guests that ordered the sand dabs complained that they were fishy tasting. The duck looked fairly dry and my sole was okay. Our waitress was really on top of it. She told the manager who then came to the table. Although we were not looking for compensation, she comp’t two sand dabs dinners which we appreciated. She really wanted everyone to be happy. Would I go back, yes.

Love this old school fun restaurant… we chose not to sit in the bar so we could talk because they have a wonderful and lively entertainer daily (bill) in their bar… we had a cozy corner table off the bar but could still hear the singing and fun coming from the bar area… our hostess was professional and friendly and kept an eye on our table.… I would go back in a heartbeat
