Von der OpenTable-Redaktion: The larder & the delta has been a comfort for nearly a decade, and it moved into a cozy home with a new menu in 2024. James Beard semifinalist Stephen Jones folds local and seasonal produce into Southern cooking with unexpected dishes like chicken-fried mushrooms and country ham–style swordfish. Start with the multi-course tasting menu, that has one seating on weekdays and two on weekends, and then look on the restaurant's Instagram for specials like brunch and chef collaboration dinners.

Been a fan of the chef since he graced the Phoenix area with his talents many years ago, and as such have seen him work within the constraints of everything from executing a four star hotel restaurant menu, doing food court style low country comfort food noshed off of bar stools, to his own open kitchens done his own way. I've seen him launch careers by nurturing local talent, providing space for pop-up dinners and guiding them through a service. Consistently, every time I've had the pleasure, there's always been a dish served that drops an involuntary hush over the table when tasted; it's usually something humble, a braised vegetable and rice or similar, but elevated, such that even if you're not a gourmand, you know you've just had something in its best possible form. That's just a small part of what he means, I think, when he says "make it nice." So I'm always a little floored by one of his meals, and specifically in this space I'm also grateful for the ease of service and how everyone you encounter is finely attuned to your comfort. If you're looking for culinary skill, inventiveness, and gracious hospitality, you've got it all here.

The Seven Chefs dinner was phenomenal and Beckett's Table was such a terrific host for the event! Both front and back of the house were professionally in-sync and the food was outstanding from the Chefs involved: Lori Hashimoto, Tamara Stanger, Stephen Jones, Donald Hawk, Bernie Kantak, Jacob Cutino, Gio Osso, and Chef Beckett. Incredible!

What a great experience. We went for a 1 week late Valentines Dinner and they made it fun, comfortable, delicious, warm, friendly, helpful....just great! The food is complex but is is very easy to eat and enjoy. You should be aware that each course is very small portions but we ended up eating more than plenty. I did not have enough room for the very interesting dessert.

I will be honest that I had very high expectations as I went to the previous Larder and the Delta many many times before it closed. I truly loved the food and expected this experience to be as good if not better.
The Ambience and Service was fantastic. A few dishes came out cold that were supposed to be warm. There was also one more fish dish that I honestly couldn't eat. We also added A5 Waygu.; in addition to the 12 course meal that we ordered. If we had known in the reservation add ons menu that there would not be substitutions we would not have ordered it, as it was too much food.
Again, the service was great, we felt well taken care of.

A Phenomenal Brunch at The Larder & The Delta
We had the pleasure of experiencing Sunday brunch at The Larder & The Delta, and it was nothing short of amazing. The menu showcased bold flavors and thoughtful ingredients, with standout dishes that left a lasting impression.
The Low Country Dirty Rice was an absolute highlight—perfectly balanced with tender scallops, octopus, and smoky andouille sausage. Every bite was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. A close second was the Nashville-style hot chicken and crispy waffle—the ideal combination of heat, crunch, and sweetness that kept us coming back for more.
While the food was exceptional, we had two minor disappointments. Given the intimate dining room (just 19 seats), we expected a bit more interaction from the Chef, especially to introduce the tasting menu. Surprisingly, we couldn’t even find the Chef’s name on their website.
Additionally, while the service was impeccable, none of the servers introduced themselves as they presented and described the dishes, which would have added a more personal touch to the experience.
That said, the team handled any challenges with grace—when we had an issue with one of our dishes, it was immediately and professionally corrected.
Overall, The Larder & The Delta delivered an outstanding brunch with creative Southern-inspired flavors. A little more personal engagement would elevate the experience even further, but the food alone is worth returning for.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ – Highly recommended!

We ent for brunch, which may not be the restaurant’s strength. We were seated promptly and asked by our server if we had dined there before, we had not, and he said he would be back to explain the menu after taking our drink order. The menu was never explained. We were interested in ordering additional sides, and were never asked. The first serving, whipped feta eggs were ice cold (maybe it was a custard? Who knows, no one explained the food, it was dropped off without much thought. The waffles and chicken were also cold, but the chicken was still tasty. I can tell a lot of thought went into the creation of the food, but it was like eating very pricey leftovers. There is a lot of potential in the menu, but we missed out the chance to experience it.

We weren’t seated until close to an hour after reservation time. Reservation was at 8 PM and we didn’t get finished until almost 11:45 PM. The food was somewhat disappointing, the fact that we were here for hours was painful and made us never want to return

The Valentine's Day food was exceptional and cannot be obtained anywhere else in the Valley. The shortcoming was on the service. I could understand the time lag between courses due to the number of people being served from what appeared to be an understaffed kitchen. My disappointment was that the wine pairings were being served well before the food arrived such that there was little or no connection between the wine and the food. The serving of the wine seemed to be a substitute for the time lag between the courses.
