Nestled in the heart of Brighton’s historic quarter, the brick-paved Lanes, The Ivy Asia Brighton is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and much more.

Savour a menu as rich and varied as the diverse cultures that span the continent of Asia. With pan-Asian classics alongside incredible vegetarian and plant-based options, there’s something to please all. I have rarely had such bad service at this price point. Wine bottles ordered were taken away to the waiter station with a promise to replenish glasses when we need it, but we repeatedly sat for some time with empty glasses - wine and champagne. Service was slow and we were informed before desert that our table was required as the menus were put down (‘there’s only 20 minutes but we’ll give you the menus anyway’): We decided not to have any but then three deserts were delivered and carefully explained. It was my partner’s birthday and we thought they were being nice. But no, as we were taking photos they were whisked away from us (all of us had touched them) to another table with barely an apology. God forbid they lose the cost of that. Having been effectively kicked off our table we repaired to the bar for cocktails, service was slow. My partner and I had also had such bad service at the other Brighton Ivy that we have walked out. We won’t be returning to either Ivy Brighton. If you want to be able to say you’ve been, go, but there are way better options in Brighton. Save your money.

Upon arriving at 6pm we were told there’s a 2 hour limit on our reservation and that we need to vacate the table by 8pm, which we understood and had no issue with. As a group of four, we ordered a selection of small and large plates to share but was slightly disappointed with the order in which the food arrived. For example, my main plate arrived before the starters, which meant by the time the side dishes arrived - I had finished! After dinner we were offered the dessert menu but the waiting staff then proceeded to point out we couldn’t order several of the items because “they can take 20-30mins to prepare & we need your table back”. I queried why, considering we still had 40mins left of our “2 hr slot” and was advised, the new guests are arriving at 8pm so we need to pay the bill and leave even earlier so they can prepare the table! Our bill was £300… (with minimal alcohol) so I can only assume you need to spend more than £75pp to warrant sitting in the restaurant for the full 2 hours?!

An amazing dining experience, lively atmosphere & live music was perfect. Only downside is too dark to read menu so take a torch or download menu on your phone

It was our 54th Wedding Anniversay and our first visit to Ivy Asia; frequent visitors to The Ivy next door and others, we were expecting something special and we were not disappointed! Served throughout by Jamie, a delightful and attentive waitress/hostess, we enjoyed several dishes and tasted each other's. All were excellent. The decor was elaborate and gave a real oriental feel to the restaurant. Many of the dishes were portrayed in a complex and fascinating design. We shall be returning to Ivy Asia to continue the experience.
