As a quick note to customers we would like to inform you that all of our reservable outdoor tables are under cover and have heating. Also standard seating is indoor seating.
Proprietor Nicholas Drillsma and partner Sandy Barton have built an enviable reputation over the past 28 years in producing the highest quality, locally sourced food, complimented by an extensive wine list.
The menus reflect our customer profile in delivering quality food and service in a cosy, quintessentially English public house.

Once you can find the entrance door everything was very nice! Excellent ambience,welcoming friendly staff and good food,what’s not to like!

We were down to four members of our walking group visiting the Hatch Inn today as our other two members were bird watching in Norfolk. Our walk this week was still on the Forest Way as ground conditions are atrocious. Once again we were warmly welcomed at the Inn. This time we enjoyed Hake, a lovely pork chop, a suit pudding of venison and I had a Southern Indian curry which I have had before and found to be delicious. Different staff this time but still very attentive. I am sure we will be back but that is dependent as to where we are walking.

Overrated and overpriced The lighting was so bad we had to use our phone torches, and this masked the fact that the chicken wings were burnt. The food was reasonably tasty but not worth the price. And there was the ordasity to suggest a 12.5% service charge 🙄

I visited the Hatch today with a friend for a very long overdue lunch. The service and atmosphere is just how I remembered it. Having not been to the Hatch for a while, it was superb. The staff very attentive and smiley, and although we only ordered soup, it was delicious. The pub was busy, with nearly all the tables full, and can't recommend enough. Will definitely be back very soon. Bravo The Hatch!!

The six of us where back at the Hatch Inn for lunch again as our planned walk was cancelled because of the inclement weather. Once again we had a lovely table to sit at. Service was impeccable however we understood that one of our usual ladies who served us had fallen on the ice and fractured her foot. The menu had changed again and we all enjoyed our different selection.

Fabulous country pub on edge of ashdown forest. Great Sunday lunch, service, the works. Beautifully cooked meal and generous portions. We always enjoy this pub and the atmosphere is terrific. Don't change a thing!
