Das The Oak Room at the Granville Inn wird als National Historic Landmark geführt und ist ein Hotel mit Personal. Das 1924 gegründete Restaurant ist ein Beispiel für das Arts and Crafts Movement. Der berühmte Architekt Frank Packard verarbeitete hier heimischen Sandstein, intensiv gefärbte Eichenvertäfelungen und Einflüsse englischer Cottages. Auf der modernen amerikanischen Karte stehen Gerichte, die mit saisonalen Zutaten und klassischen Kochtechniken zubereitet werden. Küchenchef Chad Lavely verwendet nur lokale Produkte, von Hand geschnittene Steaks, Meeresfrüchte, handwerklich hergestellten Käse, von Hand gebackenes Brot und im Haus gemachte Desserts.     Fantastic Food, French Onion soup was a true standout, great cocktail selection. Ambiance was incredible. Slightly pricey, but well worth the experience.

    Our dining experience was not the best. There were three of us and once we got our meals after what seemed like a long wait, two of the meals were just warm but acceptable to eat but the third was cold (fish mashed potatoes, green beans) so that meal was sent back. Once a replacement meal was presented it was acceptable. The server seemed anxious to clear our table. Once each person was done she took away the plates. I live in Granville and was anxious to share an experience at the Inn with relatives that were visiting from Lebanon. Unfortunately, this experience was embarrassing and unacceptable. I do not plan to return.

    Overall we enjoyed our time. We love the old hotel and the ambiance. The food was not up to standard at all my $40 steak and eggs was not very good at all. I ordered it medium rare. Parts of it were medium and parts were medium rare, but it was not at all tender. My wife had a wedge salad with steak, and the salad was nothing more than some lettuce with meat. It was a$100 meal, not going back. Sorry to say because we love the Granville area.

    I took my partner to stay overnight at the Granville Inn and for dinner at the restaurant for his birthday. I made the reservation for the Alcove and we were seated in The Oakroom. While beautiful, the Oakroom was quite noisy as several large parties were seated in the room. I am just realizing our reservation was for the Alcove which is much smaller and quieter. I wish I’d realized this as I would have asked to be moved. As it was, it was quite difficult to have any conversation due to the noise level from other patrons. On the positive side, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. We will be back and will definitely sit in the Alcove next time.

    Excellent service by waitress named Noelle. Brussel sprout appetizer was excellent. Had two steak frittes and the wild boar special. All were pleased. They do a nice affogato, but use custard instead of ice cream. Will go back.

    Great evening with ambiance, food and service. For some reason though, the hostess tried to sit my elderly parents (who arrived early) outside at the really cold patio instead of the nice and cozy indoor Alcove area. I specifically requested the Alcove with my phone reservation. My parents declined sitting outside bc they were aware of my request. Besides that, everything else was pleasant.

    I was surprised to learn that you were out of quiche on a Saturday at noon. We had the chicken salad which was very good and overall had a very nice luncheon

    The only negative was a lawn crew with movers, leaf blowers and trimmers near the patio for about 45 minutes during the lunch hours. Why not do that before dining services were open on the patio. Our party realized there was nice music on the patio 45 minutes after we were seated. This was minimal noise, it was multiple leaf blowers at high speed 15 feet from the patio. It was a beautiful day but the lack of awareness on this issue was striking.
