The Farmhouse at Redcoats is set in a beautiful 15th century farmhouse and gardens nestled in the north Hertfordshire countryside. Sherwin Jacobs heads the kitchen and promises to deliver an experience you will not forget specialising in quality, fresh, local produce. Private dinning is available in the charismatic main house rooms. Please call us directly to book an afternoon tea, 24 hour notice is needed.

In the Farmhouse we have private dining options for parties up to 8, 12 and 16 people. Two with inglenook fireplaces perfect for family lunches, celebrations and festive gatherings. Wonderful food, lovely setting, great staff. Always a favourite restaurant for us to celebrate our special occasions in. Lovely attention to detail and the small personal touches really made a difference to our dining experience and made us feel welcome.

Redcoats is an utterly charming venue. It is unpretentious, yet has a sophisticated ambience. Sunday, late lunch was our occasion and it did not fail to deliver, apart from one exception. The vegetables with our main dish, were not particularly interesting. Cabbage, Al dente green beans and a couple of pieces of broccoli which played "hide and seek". Additionally, we were most surprised to be informed that the cauliflower cheese had run out. A little odd????

From arriving to leaving the staff were very welcoming and courteous. Our evening was lovely , as we were celebrating my birthday and wedding anniversary, the food was delicious.

The food and service here was absolutely fantastic. Every single member of staff is friendly, efficient, and knows what they are talking about with regards menu etc. the food is absolutely perfect. Unfortunately on this occasion the ambience was closer to being at a pizza express, with young children running around and shouting during the meal which isn't really what you want for a nice meal out. The parents just seemed to walk around following them which made it even more difficult for the servers to navigate the area with plates and drinks as it seems they are not used to having four people constantly walking/running in a line through the small restaurant. I suspect this took everyone by surprise as I imagine most people wouldn't bring young children who can't sit down for hours to a restaurant like this, but I hope the farmhouse plans for situations like this better in the future to protect the evening of all of the other guests and to make life easier for their servers.

Outstanding and knowledgeable service and ambience. The staff were simply outstanding. Very polite. The food was extremely tasteful, beautiful presented and served.

Our first experience at Redcoats and a very good one at that. We shall certainly be back. The food was lovely and the staff very friendly, helpful and efficient without being intrusive. We used Redcoats to meet friends on a half way basis. Everyone agreed it was an excellent choice and ticked all our boxes. We all commented on a lovely relaxing lunch and afternoon. Well done Redcoats

We were there to celebrate my wife’s birthday and what a special treat. The food was fantastic, service excellent and setting first rate. It’s a place we go for ‘nice’ meals and this was another memorable one. Thanks to everyone concerned for making it such an enjoyable celebration.
