Welcome to the Chequers Inn, a unique Sussex gastopub with featuring in the AA, Michilin and MasterChefs of Great Britain guides. We have an outstanding reputation for fine food, excellent wines and handpicked local ales.

The food was served very quickly and was lovely and hot, as well as being delicious. The menu was varied and had dishes which we don’t often see on the menu of gastropub venues. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. It was our first trip to West Sussex and we were glad we had chosen The Chequers Inn.

The whole lunchtime experience was suberb, from start to finish. highly recomend well worth a visit. Every aspect was faultless.

Delicious Sunday roast. Restaurant was packed. Didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive, although the table service was rather slow and could have been more attentive.

An outstanding meal for my daughter's birthday. Food was excellent, service excellent and ambience excellent. Highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

Warm welcome and a quiet evening & in main dining area. Beer (Harveys) well kept and in excellent condition. Good range of food in menu & chose risotto (start) & Sausages & Mash (Main). Both were exceptional in presentation, size and flavour and, if I had space, I would have eaten the risotto again. I forgot how good the beer and food is in this pub and it consistently maintains a good standard, probably based on the fact that the landlord has been the same over the years. OK, the pub may get the occasional poor review but, running a business, staff/workload can sometimes be extreme. Overall, this is a very good pub in all aspects and continues to maintain good standards.

Delicious lunch. I had the loin of venison which was very tender and so tasty I shall definitely be back to have that again ! Followed by coffee panacotta which was gorgeous. My husband had fish and chips, the only criticism would be that it came with far too many fries, followed by jam roly poly - his favourite. Staff were very efficient and helpful.

Unspoiled country pub serving superb locally sourced food. Excellent ale and a good wine list. (The pinot noir was a great match to the venison.) The welcome could not have been friendlier, nor the service, which was exceptional. Very highly reccomended and we'll be back.

We always have a really good experience here. It’s our favourite place to eat out. The food is always amazing and the staff so friendly. However on this occasion they were clearly short staffed and ran out of beef on a Sunday so that was disappointing. We will continue to eat here nevertheless and highly recommend.

Every time we visit it is always great food and service. We travel 65 miles to meet family 1/2 way and it is worth it just for the food. Today fantastic Tandori Partridge as a stater. Best restaurant in the Horsham area.
