My friend and I just had the Sunday roast. We shared the bread with marmite butter and beef tartare for starters and had the roast chicken main. Highlights were the perfectly crisp roasties and the cauliflower cheese with truffle in it. I also had the Jamaican gingerbread with banana ice cream for dessert, which was spectacular. The staff is friendly, the artwork is cool and it’s a lovely, family friendly atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

After eating at his previous restaurant, 1251, was keen to to experince the new offering. Food just as great and ambience/environment much improved. Would be great to see the tasting menu back tho....

The food was cold and not very tasty. The meat wasn’t seasoned, the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes tasted deep fried. It was really expensive for a roast dinner in London and extremely disappointing,
Definitely won’t be going back.

Had the Sunday roast beef to share for 2. The service was impeccable, the food amazing (beef and braised beef shin the highlights with the beef dripping roast potatoes!) and definitely will be coming back. We had some bar snacks to start and the homemade soda bread with whipped marmite butter was an absolute delight! Great new place on Essex Road that is busy and understandably so!

Expensive but very nice. Missed 2 of my dishes despite them being on the receipt. Ended up reordering as was told they were not on the way, but then doubled up on final cheque. This aside - Food was tasty, service attentive, vibe nice.

As someone who had visited and loved 12:51, I was really excited to try The Brave to see how the food compared. The great news is that the food is wonderful. Playful, packed full of flavour, beautifully presented and executed - there's very little to fault when it comes to the dishes that came out. Where The Brave falls down is in how long they take to come out and the service generally. What started out as a brilliant experience - I stupidly had booked for the wrong day, the team couldn't have been better in letting us sit in the bar with some bar snacks until the table was ready - quickly went downhill when a table did become available. Over the course of the meal we had to ask for water three times before getting some and then another twice for more, before just having to go to the bar to get some. Plates were sat empty on the table for up to 15-20 mins after each course before they were cleared. The mains were delivered with only one of us having cutlery - cue another wait to be able to eat it. All in all from being sat in the restaurant to leaving, it took over 2.5hrs to have two oysters, two small plates, two larger plates and one pudding. Don't get me wrong, the food is really great, but it's currently as great as the service is miserable. Maybe the team were short-staffed and it was a busy service; hopefully it'll get better. I'll definitely be back to try the food again.

Exceptionally done modern British food. The service was flawless, which is impressive considering it opened only a few weeks ago. The Sunday menu was solid, with the highlights being the scotch egg, as well as celeriac. The vibe is nice, lively without being too noisy. A place where you can actually enjoy the food and chat.

The service was friendly and efficient from start to finish. The standard of food was amongst the best I’ve ever experienced - it’s innovative, tasty and satisfying. Go there if you can.
