Tavern House is the creation of restaurateurs David Wilhelm and Gregg Solomon who have developed numerous Orange County restaurants over the past 25 years, including Kachina, Bistro 201, Barbacoa, Chat Noir, Diva, Sorrento Grille and French 75. The menu reflects a collection of Chef Wilhelm's popular signature seafood and comfort food dishes. A large centrally located bar drives a vibrant night time scene in what is arguably one of the best view locations in Newport Harbor. Tavern House has a beautiful 50 seat private room for banquets with full views of the harbor and a warm central fireplace.

    Food has never been disappointing. Ahi sandwich as well as the beef dip and Caesar salad are amazing and huge so sharing is good. Definitely recommend for lunch or dinner.

    We went Tavern House Kitchen on a Monday night for their comfort food deal and to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The valet who parked our car was very polite and welcomed us to the Tavern. The hostess also greeted us with a smile, acknowledged our reservation and my girlfriends birthday and seated us in a booth, per our request via Open Table. Seating is pretty cozy, but we were next to the window overlooking the marina so we had enough privacy. Our waitress was very efficient, we gave her our order for drinks which arrived quickly. The French Onion soup was incredible, just as I remember from French 75. The Tavern Greens salad was okay. The honey-buttermilk fried chicken entree was as good as advertised and my girlfriend said that her Petrale Sole Almandine was absolutely delicious. They brought us a complimentary dessert (vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup) for my girlfriends birthday, which was very thoughtful. While the vibe was little noisy and high energy due to our booths proximity to the bar, it wasn't unbearable. All in all, it was a great evening and we can't wait to return!

    Great clam chowder! Overall, the menu is a bit pricey. But the food and service are very good and we enjoyed our dinner.

    We had a great table by the window! Our server was really nice and did a great job checking in on us and making sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. We both had the lunch combo with Prime Rib Dip and French Onion Soup - it was fantastic. The soup is the best I have had (even better than 230 Forest!) Prime Rib was very tender and had great flavor. The combo is a great deal with A LOT of food; half sandwich, salad, soup, and chips (we upgraded to fries). The only thing that was less than perfect... the table next to us were LOUD & OBNOXIOUS. It was hard for us to have a conversation over the top of theirs - which not the restaurants fault - they were just unaware and their conversations a bit inappropriate.

    The Tavern House is one of our go to special places. Love the view, the food, the service. However, last night we were disappointed which is rare. We arrived at 4pm - we were the only customers at that time. We had a beautiful window seat and were celebrating my friends birthday. Drinks, our appetizer and the salad came quickly and perfect to our order. However, I order the fabulous onion soup which arrived shortly after our salad but my friends ordered the onion soup filet mignon well done. It took almost 45 minutes, the steak was rare. We needed to leave at 5:30pm and they got their meal at 5;20pm. The comped our appetizer which was appreciated but I was very disappointed that the steak entree took so long. Something happened I guess in the kitchen, and I hope we don't have this experience again. I still highly recommend the Tavern House.

    We went there for anniversary yesterday and had a beautiful window seat. The filet mignon was amazing. Everything was great. The only thing that bummed me out is I still had my plate in front of me with a few bites of filet mignon left and a half a glass of wine and the waitress served our anniversary ice cream to us while I was still eating my dinner. I thought it was so weird and I felt completely rushed out of there, even though we had only been there for an hour and five minutes!!! I know they need a flip tables, but that’s usually at 90 minutes. I try not to let that ruin my anniversary dinner. So I decided to put the lid on the bottle and drink the rest at home. Other than that, everything was great, we got there at sunset. It was gorgeous. And tonight we happen to be in the neighborhood and realized we were there in time for happy hour. We have never been there for Happy hour, but noticed they had some great options. My husband, me and our two teenagers went and had a great happy hour. I’ll definitely going back for happy hour. They had delicious options and reasonable prices from 4 to 6 PM every day!!
