Sun Moon Studio is a farm and producer-driven restaurant in West Oakland by Chefs Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper.

We offer a multi-course tasting menu for $150 per person in our intimate 4 table dining room. An optional beverage pairing is available for $75 per person.The focus of our menu is to highlight the bounty of local producers and farmers through the lens of our life experiences.

We are happy to adjust our menu to dietary restrictions, but require advanced notice. Please let us of your parties dietary restrictions when making a reservation so we may plan for your arrival.

The service at Sun Moon Studio is top-notch! The staff is friendly, attentive, and goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. The staff was also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and wines. The food exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to go back.

The meal and service were spectacular! All the courses on menu #48 were amazingly delicious! The bill came to a ~$250/ per person of which ~$50 is wine, total of 2 glasses each. Also they base tax on total bill and not just food & service, which seems different from all other restaurants in the area. However the food, service and ambience are amazing! Hopefully, we can attend again with my younger brother,Peter & my daughter Duskie, who’s a fab chef in Sonoma county’s Russian River Valley.

Absolutely one of the best tasting menus I’ve had in a long time.. maybe ever. It’s obvious that the chefs put so much love and care into every single dish. There’s so much creativity and amazing execution. 1000% recommend. You won’t regret it!!

What a fabulous evening! Everything was perfect. The food was beautiful, the staff fantastic, and the atmosphere was relaxed but elegant. We had a wonderful conversation with Alan and Sarah- owners and chefs- about their path to the restaurant. One of our party had a tasting menu at the restaurant where they met- and said this surpassed that menu. The only problem is that now people know about the restaurant- so it's challenging to get a reservation. But it's worth the effort! We will be back- soon I hope!

One of my favorite eating experiences ever! The food is consistently astonishing and deeeelish! The ambience is lovely and there’s only a few tables so you feel extra special.

The reviews in the Chronicle were spot on. The food selections were well chosen and delicious. The wine pairings complemented the courses extremely well. When asked questions about the food, wine or pairings, the staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The entire staff (4 people) have worked together long enough that the entire experience was memorable. The prices are reasonable for the quality level of food and beverage served. We would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.

Absolutely fantastic food. Some of the best dishes we’ve had in recent memory. Of particular note was the dungeness crab with Hodo tofu and fermented tomatoes - so delicate but packed with umami, the egg custard tart with salmon roe - such a brilliant twist on a classic pastry, Taiwanese sausage on steamed brioche, smoked mussels, sweet potato, and green garlic potage with the einkorn biscuit with corn miso butter and honey - absolutely it of this world good, and the Den Sake lees ice cream with preserved strawberry - such a beautiful balance of sweet and savory. Chef Alan and Chef Sarah have really outdone themselves and I can’t say enough good things about Sun Moon Studio. Please support them!
