The historic building of the Star Lounge was a social gathering ground for almost one hundred years. Our Midtown Sacramento Lounge carries on the tradition of being a community incubator of creativity, an oasis of thought, and a great place to unwind. A place for all to come together and celebrate the arts, music, food, and a great cocktail. We use traditional local ingredients, authentically prepared, in a historic upscale inspired setting.

We've had cocktails here before and looked forward to booking a birthday dinner for my wife. Clearly a busy Saturday, as we planned. It appeared there was one (?) server for the entire floor. While placing our drink order and an appetizer, the waiter asked if we wanted to place our dinner order. Um, no. This isn't Chipotle, I'm not looking to be out in :20 minutes. Drink order placed, then we waited - and waited. I'm a very patient person - but after :40 minutes of inattention or a check-in, we left. Understaffing may be a problem, but a heads up to set expectations would have been helpful. It's a very nice evening spot, but we'll skip dinner and just visit for cocktails.

The Star Lounge space is a lovely place to enjoy finely crafted cocktails. During our visit the space was nearly full of customers, which made it quite loud. Our server, Julian, was excellent! He regularly checked in on us without being intrusive. The cocktails are some of the best one can get in the Sacramento region. The food was the biggest disappointment. While the flavors of our Mussels Frites were spot on, there were very few mussels and frites - about 8 or 9 of each. For the price, $18, we were expecting to receive twice as many. The Pot de Creme was rich and chocolatey, but the Creme Brulee was rather bland. Because of the beautiful space and excellent craft cocktails, we will definitely return to Star Lounge. However, we won't be ordering food as the price far exceeds the value one receives.

Very disappointed, I expected way more from a seemingly classy restaurant on such a momentous day (Valentines day) dinner. The waitress started out fine but missed opportunities for greatness along the way by forgetting some essential dinner compliments like our main course wine! My wife and I were left to wonder if it would ever come — never did. However the meal — tenderloin — did arrive but sadly the side items (potatoes and veggies) were lukewarm to nearly cold in places — I don’t believe I have ever experienced anything like it in all the fine dining I have done. The waitress never came by to ask us how our meal was and if we needed anything - not once. She was there at the end of our meal with the check though — we were too unassuming to even bring up the lack of our dinner wine. But here’s where everything went south at the end. On the table was one nicely cut rose in a small vase begging to be picked up and given to the lady of the table so I did and my wife thought well of it; apparently the establishment thought otherwise and our waitress informed her manager and just as we were about to depart that manager came over to tell us she couldn’t have that one single cut rose because it was part of the table decoration. Are YOU kidding me, a high class restaurant like the Hyatt is telling my sweet wife on Valentine’s Day that she needs to put this one little rose back! I didn’t say a thing because I thought how cheap can an establishment be not to let one very nice customer have that one rose that would have made the whole experience much more pleasant but no, after spending nearly $200 dollars on dinner, they just couldn’t let a maybe $2 dollar rose go and quickly replace it with another. I will never go back there again and I’ll be sure to let anyone who asks me about the Hyatt House know as well.

Great date night spot! Food was excellent. Ambiance fantastic. Kinda strange music playlist though- not terrible but just odd.

Great dinner, we ordered the mussels and calamari to start, steak and gnocchi for dinner. The cocktails were unique and the desserts fantastic. The age of the building, the windows facing out towards Sutters Fort added to the experience. A new favorite of ours.

The service was minimal. We had to keep asking for water and ended up pouring our own wine when our glasses were empty. I was very disappointed in the menu; no green salad and the food was just so-so. I’ve dined here several times and it was always good; I don’t know what happened.
