Sol y Sombra has been Dundee’s most popular tapas bar since it opened in 2011. Born out of a love for Spanish food and culture, we have created a menu of fresh, authentic and simple tapas. The aim is to recreate the feel of a typical Spanish family meal, so everyone has to share and enjoy the meal as one.

Visiting Dundee? You must pop over to Broughty Ferry and tantalize your taste buds at this exquisite authentic Spanish tapas bar! So inviting and welcoming! The cold and/or hot combinations are simply superb, diverse, generous, and a great value! Excellent wine menu, as well. Basque cheesecake is also a must!

First time here with the new owners. We liked it before and loved it today! It was fantastic! We were a party of four with one pescaterian and we had the set lunch. The food was delicious and pleased everyone and great value. Love the updating of the interior with more comfy seats downstairs, lovely lighting, good tunes and traditional tapas bar styling. All topped off by the excellent, attentive and knowledgeable service of the waitress from Madrid. We will be back!

Fabulous dinner at this lovely Tapas bar. Welcomed by a lovely professional waitress. The ‘set’ Tapas menu consisted of various delicious dishes starters followed by mains. Lots of variations some known to us some new to us. The food was absolutely fabulous. We ordered a bottle of full bodied red wine it was of a very high standard and complimented our cuisine. A lovely ambiance in the dining room, not rushed and a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Highly recommended. See you all next time we’re in town. Thankyou

Good experience. Service so friendly and helpful. Food amazing and catered easily for dietary needs which is much appreciated. Would recommend and return.

The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was served quickly and looked appetizing. However, coming into the downstairs restaurant from the cold did not meet us with a warm atmosphere. The restaurant was colder than the winter chill outside which was awful. The food cooled down quickly due to this and the Sangria jug was packed with ice which added to the shivers. We quickly ate most of the food and would have stayed chatting over our drink but had to get out to a warmer location. We left the remaining Jug of Sangria and quickly went to a nearby coffee shop to warm up. The waitress agreed it was extremely cold due to the old building and apologised. I was very disappointed as I was treating my friend for a very special birthday.

Brilliant food as ever. Very helpful and friendly staff. A lovely surprise to find out it was half price tapas.

This was our first visit to Sol Y Sombra Tapas Bar and it didn't disappoint. The decor was tastefully done, the staff very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, I liked the set menu where they chose what we had to eat, it gave us the opportunity to try food which we may not have ordered ourselves. (They asked about allergies and if there was any particular food we didnt want). The tapas was fantastic and very tasty, plentiful with great meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. All in all it was a great success at reasonable prices. We will be back!
