   The filet frites served was overdone although we ordered medium rare. Didn’t enjoy. It was tough to eat.

   It has a homey eclectic decor. Service was very good. Food was interesting and tasty. Good cocktail and wine menu.

   Saw they had pork chop which had high reviews. Sat down but then told pork chops no longer on menu. Ordered aged rib eye but disappointed was no longer being offered.

   Food was average at best service was absolutely atrocious we sat for 27 minutes before our waiter actually brought us any drinks! It was Saturday night 8:00 p.m. and his excuse was that sorry we have a lot of tables LOL pretty sure that's what is to be expected on a Saturday night there was no manager or hostess asking or bringing us our drinks etc food took forever. I guess there's a reason the gas lamp quarter has gone downhill. Definitely would not go back here. I heard the rooftop is pretty cool but maybe for drinks

   This was the first time my wife and I dined at Rustic Root, and it was an absolutely superb dining experience. The food & drinks were excellent, and level of service and attention from the waitstaff was second to none. We were seated in the upstairs loft/roof area, and despite the cool & cloudy conditions that evening, we were warmed by the innovative & expansive heating from the unobtrusive space heaters and decorative fire pits dotting the area. All of this added up to one the most unexpected and romantic experiences my wife and I have had in recent memory. I cannot recommend this establishment enough to both locals and visitors to San Diego's historic Gaslamp District. You will NOT be disappointed (but make sure to secure a reservation; walk-ins will most likely be stuck waiting for a bit during peak hours.) And don't forget to try the Tipsy Daisy during your visit.

   The restaurant was very accommodating of several special needs. The service started well, but once done, we were ignored. We had to ask two servers to get our server and finally had to go find him.

   The food and service here are fine. We were seated inside in the main dining room so that may have contributed to the loud atmosphere. The menu is not that extensive so we ended up sharing appetizers and they were all good.

    Nice and beautiful ambiance, waiter was effective and the noise level was expected during spring break!
