The food was ok but there was no welcome and little attention from staff. The manager on duty made no attempt to greet us on arrival and we were there for quite a while before anyone even noticed us. The young waiter gave us the wine to taste but didn't bother to pour it for us. There were no forks offered with dessert. Overall, I would say it was a mediocre experience. We have eaten there a few times before but the quality of service has fallen significantly. You feel like a number, not a customer. I have just checked my receipt and can see that 12.5% service charge was added. I didn't notice this when paying and it was definitely not pointed out to me. Given the lack of service, I would not have paid it and hope that it will be returned.

The Red Lion Granchester is one of our fav local place. Each visit has always been a pleasure. This time we came to celebrate my Goddaughter’s Baptism day. The service (we had Sunday roast), food and ambience were great. I highly recommend The Red Lion. Friendly & efficient service, good food, good value and they are child & pet friendly.

The food was excellent and portion sizes were good. The service here is excellent. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. We never had to ask for anything twice. We will definitely be booking Christmas lunch with them again

Have eaten here lots before usually great but not so good today. Very busy so probably to be expected. Service was fantastic.

Had our Christmas lunch at the Red Lion in Grantchester and have to say it was absolutely fabulous, the service was great and everyone left full. Highly recommend this amazing pub/restaurant

The menu was brilliant with lovely things to pick for lunch as well as more substantial things for a big meal. The service was quick and very friendly.

Great pub for lunch near Cambridge. We are in the bar which was quite noisy for a Sunday. Food was excellent as was the service. Do make sure to register your car number plate for parking when you enter the pub to avoid a £100 parking fee/ fine from Euro Car Parks.

Definitely wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t rush to go back. We possibly just had a bad experience, the food was good but we didn’t buy starters or desserts when we normally would as their were lots of strange mixes of foods, this is a personal preference and we looked at the menu beforehand but some of the dishes had changed on the day or were no longer available. Parking is a nightmare!! If you’re lucky to get a space they’re tiny. Staff were the real let down, not helpful, asked for another drink no can’t do that, waiter hard to find, asked for gluten free options there are none!!! Then got given a QR code to scan the menu online isn’t clear with these options its really not hard to print GF on a menu. Waiter asked if they could answer any questions, asked them to tell us the gluten free options, said they would ask the kitchen, back a minute later to say they’re too busy to answer the question. Not helpful, we left not wanting to spend anymore money their, definitely got too high brow for its boots and sadly not a pleasant birthday experience.

Nice ambience and really friendly staff. Service a good speed. Food very disappointing- sinewy beef, hard to cut into and reheated roast potatoes which were slightly hard on the inside. Fish and chips on the other hand were very good. Desserts also good. Roast dinners let it down though overall.
