At Primitivo we pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our food. We concentrate on fresh seasonal and local ingredients, buying directly from the markets in Birmingham. We have a small but well designed "open kitchen", so the menu is compact but offers good choice and changes regularly. The Restaurant menu consists of 6 starters, 8 main courses, side orders and homemade puddings. We would describe the food as Modern British with a strong Mediterranean influence. So, think roasted halibut with sunblush tomato mash and black pudding in the summer or a classic steak and kidney pudding in the winter months. The restaurant is intimate and stylish with high ceilings, gilt mirrors and exposed brickwork. It makes the perfect venue for business lunches, romantic dinners and family get-togethers.

Excellent choice of food types to suit all needs - really nice. Love that in addition to great food / drink and great staff, that the venue had a 5 star Licensing SAVI security and safety rating which shows their commitment to customer safety - well done !!

We had been meaning to try this venue for a while. When arriving at the restaurant, it was incredibly busy, with people spilling out onto the street. The resaurant area was very sparsely populated with only one other group of diners. The music was a bit too loud for relaxed dining, but it was the eve of the Easter weekend, and the waitress did offer to turn the music down for us, and it was perfectly acceptable levels in order for us to hold a conversation. The food was very good and the wine was reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is excellent for a business lunch. Discrete, professional and not ostentatious. The food is good and not overpriced, there is an ideal selection of beer and wine, and service is good without being over-the-top.

Service was amazing, which almost made up for the weird corner table at which we were sitting next to the fire exit, which meant it was freezing cold. The food was tasty but the spiced crab and chorizo linguine was neither was spicy nor did it contain any crab. There were lots of Christmas parties in that evening and we booked last minute, so that may explain the odd table. I can't emphasise how wonderful the service was, however - exemplary!

Booked online through Open table, very easy without having to leave a deposit. Shown to our table as soon as we arrived by a very friendly waitress. Not a large menu which I prefer but food quality was excellent. Chief on display as he was cooking the food, both the chief and the kitchen was clean and well organised. After we decided to spend the rest of the night in the well equiped bar, fantastic night out, will be using again.

We had a very nice meal and the service was outstanding. Unfortunately there were few other guests at the time. We would certainly consider going there again.

good food, tables too close together, waitress too attentative and unfortunately squeaky voice whihc she couldn't help, but due to her frequent visits to our table, it became a tad bit irritating. Good venue however.

Slightly squashed in, might have been a problem if we were four! Starters of scallops were delicious Main course, fish special slightly too salty but generally very good Not sure about the floury bread sticks! Consistently good standard for several years, one of the best for a business or casual weekday lunch

Great food, great place to be for either an intimate lunch or when out with friends. Great Atmosphere and the open kitchen makes the whole experience great.

My third visit to Primitivo, I've now been for a work dinner, lunch with a friend and dinner and all three times have loved the food but been most impressed by the service. The staff really are lovely, so friendly and genuine. We ate linguine with cod, expecting bits of cod flaked in but it was a cod fillet on top of a big plate of pasta in a delicious red pepper sauce. Chocolate fondant was good too, surrounded by masses of chocolate sauce. We were very content! It is a very relaxing place to eat and I love the decor too. I'll be back, with the husband next time!
