Located in the art district of San José del Cabo, Phortal Restaurante & Catering is an innovative concept that blends art, creative contemporary cuisine with Mexican influences, and mixology in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Phortal was amazing!!! We had such a great time from start to finish. Staff was great..food was outstanding!!! We had the five course meal was we loved. Cocktails were great, they even give you a welcome drink. Price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get. We have a place at Rosewood las ventanas and we rarely leave but this had to be one of the best meals we’ve had in Cabo. The restaurant is kind of hidden between a couple shops so be on the lookout for it, well worth a visit there.

This was a pleasant surprise! An upscale menu prepared by a young chef that is using very fresh ingredients, flavourful sauces, and nice presentations. Priced very well - highly recommend. This is a step up for San Jose cuisine. Well done!

Consistently phenomenal. Sufficiently attentive staff who pace your experience as you tell them (this restaurant is not focused on turning tables) so you can relax and savor the food. This time the fish and unexpected soup course (amazing pairing of soups -truffle and a seafood) were perfect- still have us talking. I love the craft cocktails and their bartenders are the right amount of daring. No menu means the best and freshest ingredients thrive. Be honest at what you want or don’t so they can tailor to suit (my wife does not want meat for example). Put this place up alongside any foodie destination around anywhere. James Beard/Michelin level cuisine.

Fabulous meal and service! Michelin star level (and I’ve eaten at a two star before). Delicious, thoughtful, beautiful presentation. A delightfully pleasing setting. Chef, Boyso, Isaac Alejandro and all the staff created a memorable dining experience. Thank you!! We will be back.

Spend a lot of time in los cabos and been to every well rated restaurant in town a couple times over. Tried Phortal last night for the first time and can’t believe it took us this long to do so… our first response was just ‘wow’. 5 course tasting menu + a couple amuse bouche + comp’d coconut foam limoncello margarita… are you kidding me? Oh, and it was only 90$US /person. If the bill came and was 3x the price, I wouldn’t have to thought twice. It’s sophisticated dining without the pretension or stuffiness— my favorite. Foodies will love. And you’ll leave FULL. Don’t think twice, just do it. Props to chef, manager Jorge and Raul+Boyzo who waited on us— we had a blast. Will be back… maybe later this week.

Truly exceptional in every way. I have dined at the best restaurants in Baja Sur, including the only Michelin star (Cocina de autor) and el farallon, but Phortal is in a league of its own. From the moment I arrived, they had someone standing outside the restaurant waiting to escort me inside who greeted me by name. From there, everything was nothing short of divine. The space is modern and inviting, and they have gorgeous blankets if you are cold. They serve three butters (chipotle, regular and honey) with fresh bread. The seafood dishes are exquisite, every bite was memorable. If I could dine at one restaurant in the world, it would be Phortal. The individual attention they give to the diners during the tasting menu is unreal. It’s like you have a personal tour guide who describes each dish with passion, modifying for your preferences and restrictions as you go. The dishes are so flavorful and innovative, the ingredients so fresh. At the end, the chef came out to meet us. He was so young and adorable. In fact, everyone there was invested in the cuisine — it was a real team environment and you could feel the love and passion they all have in what they do. I will dream of returning to Phortal. There is no reason why Phortal should not have received the Michelin star besides that the environment isn’t yuppy - a star is deserved, in fact, two stars are deserved. Don’t pass up the opportunity to dine here. We “splurged” for the 5 course tasting menu (which is actually 9 courses) and with 25% tip and alcohol it came to only about $125/person. In NYC, this meal would be closer to $500-600. The best restaurant I’ve dined at ever. Hands down. I will most certainly be back.

What a wonderful gem! Creative and delicious food, beautiful presentation, nice service and very cool setting. We are so pleased to find this in the heart of San Jose👏🏻 we are big foodies and will be definitely be coming back for more ! Highly recommended 😄

Spectacular. For any foodie in Los Cabos this is the place. Well run. And well executed. Chef’s sauces are soooo amazing and pair so well with his dishes that we are still talking about it days later. You have to be honest with what you don’t want to eat and trust as there is no menu. If you are concerned about any dish (we don’t do veal for instance) just tell them. Cocktails were spot on as well. An event not to be missed.
