Famous for its intimate, bohemian, clubby atmosphere, and beautiful outdoor dining area, the Parsonage Grill displays an amazing collection of eclectic oil paintings; mainly portraits of well-known writers and artists.

As always the Parsonage Grill is open throughout December and our Christmas Party Menu is available from 20th November to 24th December, and can only be booked in advance for parties of 5+ guests. Our table was booked for a celebration family tea for seven but despite warnings on the website not to be late our table was not ready, presumably because the previous diners did not vacate. The restaurant was packed and I suspect serious overbooking. There is no waiting area except a cramped reception area or outside (in December - really?) It took at least 20 minutes after our booked slot to be seated and there was then a massive delay in bringing our afternoon tea. We didn't get anything to eat until at least 50 minutes after our booked time slot. They clearly knew we were coming so that is unacceptable. Drinks were brought, but by the time our food arrived they were cold. The dining room was hot but when the air conditioning came on it was so cold some of our party had to put their coats on and then requested it be turned off. When the food finally arrived it was very good, especially the scones which were warm and freshly baked. There was certainly plenty to eat and we took home some boxes with the excess sandwiches and cakes. There was clearly some appreciation that our experience was less than good as we were served complimentary glasses of champagne and the final bill was reduced by 10%. That was a welcome gesture but did not really make up for how we were treated on arrival. Given that this is an expensive venue and the sort of destination one chooses as a treat we would not recommend it and cannot envisage going back.

I love this restaurant, my favourite in Oxford. In the summer the garden is a true delight and in the winter the ambience inside is perfect for a cozy special treat dinner in beautiful surroundings. There is much interesting art work, the menu delicious and the wines excellently chosen. The 500 cc carafe option also perfect if one of you is driving. Every time I go with great expectations and have never been disappointed in any way. This is a restaurant to be highly commended.

Great venue to take my mum for a birthday meal. Refined but not fussy atmosphere and delicious food. Service was prompt and courteous.

For a convivial, conversational evening with colleagues or friends, the Old Parsonage is simply the best venue in Oxford - elegant, cozy surroundings, blissfully music-free and typically a quiet and civilized clientele. They will make every effort to accommodate diner's requirements for seating and other needs. On this occasion, my guest was delayed well past our booking time; despite the restaurant being fully booked, the OP graciously accommodated us.
