Von der OpenTable-Redaktion: Chef-and-somm brothers Oliver and Nicolas Poilevey's parents opened Chicago's beloved Le Bouchon, so there was already a ton of buzz when the brothers debuted Obélix in 2022. With black-and-white floors, burgundy banquettes, and a name borrowed from the beloved Gallic comic books, the vibe here is definitely more fun than fussy. Indulgent dishes like beef Wellington, aged duck breast, and foie gras macarons have helped the restaurant and the brothers score James Beard Award nominations and a place atop Chicago Magazine's best new restaurants list in 2023.

The food was ok. Best item was Mac and cheese. French onion soup was decent as well. Steak was meh. Cod was good, but tiny portion.

Ashley has been our server on more than one occasion. She is well versed on the menu and offers great advice for your dining experience. Her personality is friendly, yet courteous, professional but personal in a way that makes you comfortable, helpful but not pushy. Her smile is contagious. My husband and I have been treated kindly from the hostess to the wait staff. Great food, drinks and service.

Obelix never disappoints. The food, the service, it is always excellent. I went to brunch today again. The pistachio croissant, the lobster crepe, and the passion fruit sorbet were my choices today. Shout out to the bartender, hostess, and wait staff for another incredible experience!

Best experience ever , the food was just excellent, the restaurant itself was unbelievable stunning and clean . The food was exquisite and a huge round of applause to everyone from the reception to the chef , we have a mushroom allergy and they went above and beyond to ensure accommodations were made for us . Last but not least everyone’s service was on point and we felt like being at home having dinner . Everyone smiling showing passion and dedication for their job. LOVE IT LOVE IT and we just LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Thank you Obelix , you all rock #chicago !!!!

Perfect night out. Impeccable service and food. The oysters Rockefeller, the NA French 75, and NA rosé are single handedly going to get me through this last trimester of this pregnancy. Thank you.

Mediocre service & cuisine at Obelix. Servers look & behave as tho' they've just rolled out of bed & can't be bothered. Steak frites was an over-cooked, tough steak & soggy American French fries, not crisp, golden frites. How escargots a la bouguinonne can be tasteless, I have no clue, but this one was. Every time we were served the incorrect dish, or had to ask for water, or a dish was OOS, the response was "Oh, we're so busy." To me, busy is a good thing, not an excuse for mediocre service & cuisine. Pricing is not unreasonable for a top-notch experience, which Obelix is not.
