Welcome to Cellar Door at Balgownie Bendigo.

We are located at Balgownie Estate in Maiden Gully. Balgownie Estate is Bendigo’s oldest commercial Vineyard. We have been producing award winning wines from our first vintage back in 1972. Today you can visit our restaurant and cellar door and taste from our extensive selection of wines made from hand harvested fruit grown on their beautiful old vines that are now over 50 years old.

Whilst here, take the opportunity to, dine in our restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our menus feature contemporary Seasonal Australian Cuisine, sourced from premium local suppliers. For Breakfast enjoy a romantic Champagne Breakfast (our version of it anyway…!)

Be guided through the list of our award winning wines by our knowledgeable cellar door team. There is a $10 per person tasting fee, however this is refundable against purchases of wine. For Groups of 6 or more we have a group tasting option of $15 per person for 6 predetermined wines and each member of the group gets a 10% discount off any further purchases during that visit. My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful day, view, delicious food and bubbles. We had excellent service with friendly knowledgeable staff. Being able to enjoy the experience in the peaceful ambience of the vineyard.

Our experience was good have been before and has always been great.The staff were excellent the views are to die for over looking the vineyard. Our lunch was great tasty and the wines excellant

On arrival waitresses we’re quiet rude and reminding us that we needed to leave at a certain time which we knew. Basic food platters were average yet quite expensive. We were contentious encourage to order due to a wedding scheduled at later time yet we open to ordering and staying within our booked time slot. Disappointing experience for a birthday outing with friends. Would not come back, disgusted in the experience.

Thank you for taking the time to make this review. We take our guest feedback seriously and to heart. We are disappointed that your experience did not live up to your expectations. The day in question was busy and as you mentioned we did have a wedding on and as such we needed to turn the restaurant. Unfortunately we did not close the booking s down as quickly as we should have and rather than cancel we tried to push through.

Highly recommend the breakfast options if you are staying onsite. We had the Eggs Benedict with Potato Rosti and it was fantastic.

I am sorry that our order hasn’t been put through to the kitchen and we waited 1 and 1/2 hours for our meal. Yes you apologised but there were people on another table that were complaining about their meal and were subsidised. This was our second time to Steak and Shiraz night and I don’t think we will be back.
