   This was my second time dining at Nesso. The food was excellent. We tried the spritzes for drinks and they were terrible; the flavor descriptions were completely overwhelmed by the alcohol flavor. Way too alcohol forward, to the point the alcohol number your tastebuds. We noticed that many of the cleared drinks from other tables included spritzes that were barely touched, so it wasn’t just the three we tried. Mine marginally improved as the ice melted but I still consumed less than 10% of it. The server even swapped one of the spritzes for a different one (comping the original, which was nice) but it was the same issue and we just gave up. The pasta dishes were phenomenal. Our server was a little odd and couldn’t answer a straightforward question about favorite dishes on the menu and kept trying to flip it back — “what are you in the mood for? do you want red sauce? do you want something light or heavy?” — “well I have my eye on a few dishes and they are pretty diverse so just tell me what you you’d pick and I’ll see if that’s one of the ones I’m interested in.” She then ended up going through a description of the entire menu which wasn’t what I wanted or asked for. (I understand our tastes may not be the same but come on; all servers at a restaurant of this caliber should be prepared to make some suggestions.) 5* food. Drinks and server experience were frustrating and not what I’d expect from a CRG restaurant.

   Great food! Had the octopus appetizer which was tender and tasty. I'll definitely get that again next time. Also had the lamb ragu orechiette, black ink pasta, and trout dishes, all of which were superb. Our server, Miles, was fantastic.

   We really enjoyed our dinner at Nesso! Our waitress Kelly took great care of us, and the rest of the staff was very attentive in refilling water, folding napkins, etc. It was pretty quiet, good for a date night, but got more lively as the evening went on. We loved our wines (Kelly gave a great recommendation to my partner who loved her choice). The focaccia bread appetizer was delicious and the dipping oil was very high quality. The Caesar salad was an interesting twist with the lemon zest, breadcrumb garnish, and spring mix over romaine. Our entrees were spectacular: we got the fennel sausage rigatoni and the truffle gnocchi. The gnocchi were definitely the highlight of the meal. Finally, the tiramisu was incredible. Easily the best tiramisu we’ve had. We will definitely be back to Nesso when we find our way back to Indy!
