Visitors to the Las Vegas Strip in the mood for authentic southern cuisine need look no further than the just-like-Grandma-used-to-make dishes of Executive Chef Mario Nichols, a transplant from the kitchen of this restaurant's North Carolina original location. Grandma is real, too: Nellie was the grandmother of Kevin Jonas, Sr., "Papa Jonas" to the fans of his famous sons, and the founder of Nellie's. The food - including freshmade biscuits, shrimp and grits, and chicken and dumplins, shares top billing with Nellie's hospitality and decor. The gorgeous venue, located within the District of MGM Grand, opposite the Grand Garden Arena and close to Wet Republic, Top Golf and the MGM convention center, is open 7 days for lunch and dinner. Come by to watch the game on our HUGE main screen, or to listen to some live music!

                                                                                                    Mainly the food was a little disappointing. The flavor of the southern egg rolls were completely overpowered by the buffalo sauce. The string beans were drenched in garlic and oil. The Mac and cheese did not have much flavor. However the staff were nice and welcoming. In addition, the portions are pretty huge.

                                                                                                    This place is southern not soul food. I got the trio of sides. The Mac and cheese was okay the yams tasted as if they just boiled and cut the yams there was no bourbon or brown sugar added. My partner got the pulled pork. The pull pork was very well smoked but the barbecue tasted a bit cheap. The coleslaw wasn’t sweet enough to go with the pulled pork. I was excited for the egg rolls with the Mac and cheese, the collard greens were well cooked but the whole thing lacked flavor which is probably why it came with a sauce on the side. BUT their bartender did there thing with the drinks, really good espresso martini. The server we had was very nice and attentive. Overall food quality wasn’t good and it was very expensive.

                                                                                                    Food was very good, but thought it was a bit pricey. I understand it's Vegas, but $35 for meatloaf was a bit much. I do recommend this place as the quality of food was outstanding, despite the price.

                                                                                                    I loved our waiter. He made honest suggestions which I appreciate. The food was….meh. I expected more. I was told the biscuits were a must. They were greasy. The fried chicken was ‘dusty’. The skin dissolved instead of crunching. It was good’ish but we expected more. The fried green tomatoes were ALL batter. Not sure there was a green tomato inside at all. The dumplings were more like paste. Very very thick.

                                                                                                    Nellie’s Southern Kitchen at MGM Grand delivers an outstanding dining experience, blending comforting Southern flavors with top-tier hospitality—all at fair and reasonable prices. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly service that set the tone for a fantastic meal. We started with the egg roll appetizer, a delicious and unexpected Southern twist—crispy, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin. The grilled shrimp was expertly cooked, juicy, and packed with smoky goodness, while the classic chicken and waffles hit all the right notes—crispy, tender fried chicken paired with fluffy waffles and just the right touch of sweetness. The drinks were excellent, especially the margarita, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. Each cocktail was crafted with care, elevating the entire experience. Service was prompt, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel right at home. With great food, fantastic drinks, and fair pricing, Nellie’s Southern Kitchen is a must-visit if you’re looking for authentic Southern cuisine in Vegas. We’ll definitely be back!

                                                                                                    Nellie’s was so good! The soul food was up to par! Don’t only was it tasty but the chicken was juicy not dry which I was so surprised and thankful for yummy! Definitely going back

                                                                                                    We’re from Texas, so we know southern food and how it should be cooked. We came here as we got married earlier in the day and we wanted to have food that tasted like home. The sweet tea was the best part, it tasted just like it’s made at home. They really should advertise it though on the menu! The food was ok, but the biscuits were great!! Definitely recommend getting that. I don’t recommend the cookie skillet, it just had way too much caramel sauce on it. It’d be balanced out if they added chocolate syrup to it. The service wasn’t the best for the price we paid for food. There was a big convention party that we got outshadowed for.
