A Family Tradition For Over 90 Years

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. Thank you in advance for understanding and we are in this together.

Used to love coming here, the food and service were great. I hadn’t had a chance to come over the last couple of years because I moved out of the area. A family member told me that the food wasn’t the same quality and the service has gone down so I had to check it out for myself. Unfortunately he was right. The ladies at the hostess counter were great! They were very polite and got us a table an hour before our reservation time. Our waiter on the other hand was not so friendly. Although we weren’t by any means demanding or asked for anything out of the ordinary, he seemed annoyed. He missed bringing out half of our orders and never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. He ended up leaving towards the end of the meal and the covering waitress seemed a little nervous and unsure of what was going on with the status of our orders. The food wasn’t as good as it used to be. The cherry rhubarb was tough, not as soft as it used to be and my husband’s coffee tasted old and wasn’t hot. I’m not sure if we will be eating here again the next time we’re at Knott’s.

Food not as good as it used to be. Seemed very much mass produced. Chicken was just okay but sides were totally flat, no taste and corn extremely over cooked. Biscuits were more like rolls than biscuits. Pie was still delicious. Honestly the only bright spot.

Food was horrible. There was a weird spice / after taste to every thing . The chicken, the gravy, the soup, the pot pie. My husbands fried chicken was still pink on the inside , the salad was sitting in water, we had to ask several times for refills on water and tea. Everything was over priced and just not good. We will never go back. I regret paying $100 for that meal for an instant belly ache.

Mrs Knotts Chicken dinner is always a hit from delicious perfectly baked chicken, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and a small side dish of cabbage with bits of ham. The meal is served with either a side salad or chicken soup. The chicken pie comes steaming with vegetables. We always look forward to the yummy biscuits served with boysenberry jam and butter. Meals include either boysenberry or apple pie. Service works like clockwork. I do suggest making reservations prior. Always look forward to dining here.

I’ve been going to this restaurant since my childhood and I finally was able to share it with my grandchildren. Although it remained nostalgic for me I found the restaurant dirty (including the table they placed our family of 9 at). The food was good but it wasn’t hot as it should be. It must have been sitting for awhile. The service was slow although the waitress was kind. Possibly she had too many tables? Short on staff? The restaurant is in need of a remodel and it should remodel so that it can continue this tradition on for generations. I fear the quality may be on a downward spiral in comparison to past experiences. I’m rooting for this restaurant. I hope they read reviews!

Was not impressed. The biscuits tasted funny and the food was just okay. My son liked his chicken fried steak, I thought the fried chicken had no flavor and neither of us liked the mashed potatoes. My son said they tasted like they came from a box. This meal was for his birthday and he said it was the worst birthday meal ever.

Breakfast with Santa was very over rated. Lots of stale and cold food. Pictures with Santa weren't included. Of course it was an upcharge for a pic with him. He did hand out a stuffed animal which was a plus. However for the price it is insane the pic wasn't included. With enough of the yummy mimosas I can almost forget how much I paid for cold stale food.

fast and exceptional service . Great food huge portions for a reasonable price. Delicious Biscuits, fried chicken, and boysenberry pie.

Every time we go to Knotts, we have to eat at Mrs. Knotts. Especially for the chicken noodle soup. This time we went to the Christmas Brunch. Excellent food, and a chance to see Santa. It is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it. Got to enjoy some boysenberry champagne, too!
