You can’t help but gaze through the soaring windows toward Foss Waterway, but be sure to look up, too, for a fantastic display of chandeliers. We went to McMinnamin's for the architecture, but found the menu offered a wide variety of upscale pub food, with something for everyone. I enjoyed a flight of hard ciders, all of which were delicious, and we shared the pretzel sticks and seared ahi appetizers to start; both were tasty and portion sizes were perfect for sharing between the two of us. Our server was attentive and helpful in making dinner choices and our food was good, but not amazing . . . I had the wild mushroom pizza with a crust that seemed underdone and goat cheese that was dry and crumbly, rather than creamy, more like feta. I don't think I'd order another pizza, but there's lots more on the menu to choose from. My hubby's burger was good-sized and looked delicious, his report was that it was a "decent" burger. The dining area is very large but feels intimate because it is set up in smaller, more private rooms and areas, and the stained glass, light fixtures and soaring ceilings kept our attention. It's worth seeing this beautiful structure and the care that went into restoring at least once, but I also think it's a great spot for bringing a group of friends to enjoy the billiards room and other tucked-away bars in the building. It truly is an amazing experience to visit this establishment, whether for drinks and happy hour or to eat a simple meal and enjoy company and the surroundings.

We ate a birthday dinner at the bar, we were able to get a good view and the server was very friendly. My Spouse ordered a beer which he did not like , so they didn’t charge us for it. That was nice. It was fun to walk around the old Elks temple and see the different venues that McMenamins have developed.

It was NYE but everything took for ever. Drinks. Apps. Food. I think they only had one server. And guy was nice. But I’m guessing overwhelmed. For a holiday. I would think there would be many more people on staff.

Very slow service. Took 15 minutes for the waitress to come to the table then 20 minutes for our drinks to come thrn when the waitress finally came back 20 minutes later for a food order she said it would be 20 or more minutes for food we decided to leave and go to the tiki bar downstairs for faster service and better atmosphere.

We LOVE the McMenamins venues! The way they incorporate the local history and culture into all aspects of their design, the structure and the art is brilliant! And it is all just so fun to experience. We took family visiting over the holidays here for a fun adventure and the venue was over the top fun! It was not very busy at 9:30 am on Saturday, but still the breakfast in the main restaurant was just ok (undercooked eggs, orders messed up, hot food cold, public health inspection signs informed public of just okay inspection ratings which is quite low on their scale). The service was extremely slow. I wish I loved everything about McMenamins but my value rating is low given the food and service was fair to poor while prices are quite high.

The front person wouldn’t seat us 5 mins early even though the restaurant looked pretty empty. People that didn’t have a reservation were seated before us. There was no Bloody Mary’s available and it’s Saturday morning which I would think would be a busy breakfast day. Coffee was so watered down that it was not drinkable and we ordered other drinks to supplement. And the food took very long to come out. We usually love to eat here but this day was very disappointing.

Thanks to the team who worked on Christmas to serve us wayfaring strangers. The fish & chips were great (thanks for the extra tartar sauce!), my mother loved her cod with the white rabbit sauce, and we both really enjoyed our ginger-basil-lime spritzers.
