Behind an unmarked door adjacent to the wine room, guests are transported to District 1 (China Town) in Saigon via Blackhouse’s 28-seat restaurant-within-a-restaurant, LSXO. A spinoff of the Little Sister brand (Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach & Downtown Los Angeles), LSXO is love letter to the culture, heritage, and lineage of Vietnam (Vuong’s relatives hail from the region). While Little Sister is known for its French Vietnamese menu, LSXO follows the same Southeast Asian inspiration with a more refined feel.

“There is no signage for LSXO—you can spot the entrance of it tucked into a section inside Bluegold, but you’ll have to know it’s there. While Bluegold is light, bright, and airy, LSXO is its darker, edgier little sister,” says Vuong. “Both restaurants operate out of the same kitchen, though the menus are completely different. LSXO offers straight-up, honest, home-style Vietnamese cuisine—the type of food I grew up eating with my grandparents in the San Gabriel Valley

Food was very good but not as memorable as I had hoped. Particularly good was the eggplant, followed by the salmon crudo. Chairs were somehow somewhat uncomfortable and the table next to us said theirs were broken. Service very friendly but they had to be reminded to bring one or two of the food items and had to ask for more water a couple times. Nice views. Would go again. But raising their game would be super too.

Loved the experience. Definitely will return. Food was very very tasty. I'd give food 4.5 stars if possible but because the shaky shaky beef was not as tender as everyone raved about, I gave 4 stars. Cocktails and papaya salad were superb.

Anthony & Jasmine were amazing as always. I have a sensitivity to egg white but I loooove cocktails with egg white. I found an egg white foam replacement (not aquafaba!) and they made my cocktails with it. It tasted great & they were so kind to do that for me.

It was our first time at LSXO and we had a great time. Small speakeasy with about 6 tables. Our waitress Jasmine was wonderful and gave us excellent recommendations. The Shaky Shaky Beef was our favorite, very tender and the sauce was delicious. Definitely worth the wait to get a reservation. We will be back!

Disappointed on My Birthday LSXO has always been a favorite, so I chose it for my birthday with friends, including a neighbor in executive restaurant management one of his concepts being a Michelin Star rated restaurant. I’ve talked up LSXO’s vibe, food, and Michelin-level quality, but sadly, this visit fell short. The night started with a rude greeting about needing a reservation (which we had) and the hostess disappearing into the kitchen. Drinks were left empty, food timing was off, and the freezing 62°F dining room made it uncomfortable for the women in our group. I had to get up twice—once to adjust the thermostat and again to request service. While the food was great, service matters just as much, and LSXO didn’t deliver the experience I’ve come to expect. Please don’t let this gem lose its shine over service lapses. It’s the little details that make an extraordinary night. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little “extra.” LSXO let’s not be another’s ordinary restaurant in HB let’s stay extraordinary!
