Longhorn smokehouse is new restaurant located within Wrest Point.

We’re taking a modern approach to the traditional flavours and ‘low and slow method’ of Southern American BBQ. Sink your teeth into the best grilled, smoked, and baked meats, sourced from the finest local producers. All against the stunning backdrop of the River Derwent.

In other words, it’s your classic American smokehouse, done the Tasmanian way.

Food and drink was very nice however we were left disappointed this experience (having attended Longhorn before) as we had a 3 hours dinner sitting with mains and dessert but we only ever experienced being offered for drinks including water once at the start of the sitting. Our second round of drinks only came after 2 hours when we asked for the menu for desserts and drink when our mains plates were being cleared. However at all times staff were polite and not rude. Atmosphere was nice but staff were quiet and needing vibrancy for a busy prime time Night.

This was our 2nd meal at Longhorn over a couple of years and again the food was exceptional. We were a little disappointed that the “condiment menu’ was no more but this did not take away from the quality of the steaks. The service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and attentive and the meal was great value. Overall a very solid 4 stars.

Burnt ends entree was not crisp was very spicy . Macaroni was amazing rest was pretty average

The food was absolutely amazing, so tasteful, delicious, best meal in a very long time. My only fault was that they had run out of ribs which is what we went for, I don't eat steak so had a couple of entrees instead.

The food was faultless – the steak was cooked perfectly to our liking, and everything came out quickly and promptly. However, the service was the only downside. Perhaps it was because it was New Year's Eve, but the staff seemed unprepared and disorganized, often confusing each other. We didn’t receive cutlery when our mains arrived, so we had to grab some from another table’s setup. One of the staff members returned half an hour later with cutlery, only to realize we had already taken care of it. It became a bit of a laughing experience, but what stood out was that the manager didn’t seem to check in or ensure everything was running smoothly.
