Lovely tea experience. Decor, food, service excellent. Served on Royal Albert china so beautiful servings! Leftovers were packaged beautifully to enjoy at home that evening. Had had tea in their old location in Georgetown & this was my first in their new location. Most DC tea venues serve only Thurs-Sunday. Thank goodness for LC on a Tuesday afternoon! 😊

Not your grandmother’s tea. Lady Camellia is a lovely location on the waterfront of Old Town Alexandria. The space is compact with a wall of windows and high ceilings that give the impression of spaciousness. The decor is simple, elegant and flattering with ballet slipper pink walls and pale blue chairs with modern light fixtures. Unlike many afternoon tea locations, LC allows the individual diner to choose from a standard selection of sandwiches, pastries, and desserts. The option of choice is appreciated but does tend to slow service. Our 3:30pm seating followed 2 private events which then Required a complete reset of the space and slowed service. Within 20 minutes the entire space was refilled and with minimal sound dampening it was quite energetic in feel and noise. Definitely not a sedate location! There is a large tea menu and each diner is able to choose their own tea which is provided in a beautiful pot with an individual tea strainer. The food selections lack the finesse I would expect for the price. Sandwich crust not completely removed and cut too large. Sandwich fillings were simple although flavorful. The white chocolate scone was delicious, best item I had. The chocolate croissant felt like it came from Costco. The small individual desserts were served in plastic containers and lacked finesse or decoration. With an 11% tax and automatic 18% gratuity my total was $92 (included 1 mimosa).

Such an underrated spot for afternoon tea! It’s beautiful on the inside and overlooks the river. Great desserts and service as well!

Best afternoon tea I've had in DC. Quality pastry and tasty tea. Sandwiches were great too.

Although the restaurant was a bit busy, with no seat untaken when we first arrived, the noise and atmosphere was still relatively quiet and calm. I was not sure what to expect as I have only had afternoon tea outside of the US. The food, the tea, and the staff were all wonderful. The food was especially good and presented well with no finishes overlooked. I did order a more savory dish in addition to the full tea service. The chicken and leak pie was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend trying anything that might sound appeasing to your palet. Lady Camellia is highly recommended. My daughter and I will be back soon!

After a less than perfect start - our initial server had difficulty explaining the menu, failed to give us tea strainers and gave us bad info on how long to steep our tea- the experience was completely saved by our second server who replaced the first at our request. From that point on, everything was wonderful. We got the full tea with a second person added. The tea, food and pastries were delicious. Highly recommend for a lovely elegant experience This was our fourth visit and we’ll be back.

If you’re seeking an authentic English tea experience, this isn’t the place. It leans more toward the typical overpriced and overrated U.S. take on afternoon tea. While the tea itself is excellent, the food is underwhelming—croissants and scones seem frozen rather than freshly made in-house. Service is slightly below average, and the main draw is the waterfront ambiance. Expect to spend over $100 for two, with portion sizes and quality that don’t justify the price.
