Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

              I made a reservation and even requested to have a booth and a comfortable table. We (three of us) got a pretty uncomfortable seating with two un-even tables together, when we requested to change the seating, the server refused. He said the booths were reserved (this was during lunch time) but we didn't see anyone at those booths the entire time during we were having lunch. We were wining and dining so we did stay for a while but didn't see anyone in those booths. Food was just ok. Three of us all ordered steak and it was barely warm. Cheesecake tasted like something we can get from Costco. Food is pricey for the quality you get and I don't think I will come back for lunch or dinner here. Maybe drinks? :) The ambience is amazing. Great high ceiling with beautiful Christmas tree in the main dining area.

              David is the man, explained all the dishes with super detail. His service was a cut above most I’ve seen. Very polite and welcoming. Coming back and will be asking for my man David🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

              The hostess was very pleasant and seated us right on time. The restaurant is beautiful and was decorated for the holidays. The server started off well. Lobster bisque and wagyu carpaccio were excellent. Then things went downhill. The entrees were delivered, but not by our server. My companion’s entrée was the wrong meal. As he left confused, I reminded him about the red wine I ordered. We both sat waiting while both our server and the manager passed our table 4-5 times without making eye contact. After 10 minutes, the server stopped by and I explained what happened and asked if he could microwave my steak while we waited. I reminded him about the wine, he took my steak, and left. The manager passed by 2-3 times without making eye contact as we sat. After 10 minutes, the server returned with both meals. No apologies from anyone to this point. I reminded him about the wine. My companion’s meal was below average. The steak I ordered medium was well-done and difficult to swallow. The manager passed 2 times without making eye contact. The wine arrived as I was about 2/3 through the steak and the server said, “sorry about that” and left. The server brought the check and a dessert menu. We ordered the chocolate mousse which was excellent. He returned with the check, apologized, and comped the dessert. As we departed from the 2nd floor we entered the elevator. The manager happened to be there and asked “how was your evening”. My companion stated, “quite bad actually”. He seemed surprised as I briefly explained what happened and he indicated he wished I had visited with him. I explained that he was as bad as the server having passed our table 10 times without ever paying attention. He was at a loss for words as we left. Beautiful restaurant, great appetizers and dessert, horrible entrees, and deplorable service.

              The food and wait staff were excellent. The decor was beautiful. However, we were seated in the bar area with the kitchen right behind us. The music and the noise were at high levels. Our table was very small and VERY close to other tables.

              While the restaurant is a beautiful venue, the music was so loud, it was difficult to have a conversation. The drinks were not very good. It took a very long time to get the drinks and we were told it was because the bar is small. When we got our check, we saw we were charged for two food items we did not order. Beware. I will not be returning and I would NOT recommend La Grande Boucherie to anyone.
