Experience modern, coastal Italian cuisine at Fort Lauderdale's newest hot spot, La Fuga. Chef Michael Mayer infuses local South Florida flavors with classic Italian staples to create a fusion of crave-worthy, contemporary dishes.

La Fuga, (Italian for "the escape,") is nestled in the heart of the Kimpton Shorebreak, named in homage to the location’s historic beginnings. The newly renovated Kimpton Shorebreak occupies a unique space in Fort Lauderdale, originally opened as The Escape Hotel in 1949.

La Fuga pays tribute to it's origin story in name and also in atmosphere. Featuring midcentury design, and a laid-back vibe, the indoor-outdoor dining room includes views of the hotel's scenic courtyard and provides access to a rooftop pool overlooking Fort Lauderdale’s intercoastal.

The food was good, but extremely overpriced. Lasagna for 2 was over $50. My son had a gnocchi platter that had eight gnocchi and it was $30.. I like the atmosphere but it definitely was crazy overpriced for the quality and quantity.

My guest was fit on the head when the heat lamp fell apart. He was bleeding. The restaurant manager didn’t respond until our waitress told Kim to come. He brought a band aid. He offered a free dessert. We declined. Although we live in the neighborhood the manager’s behavior was unprofessional and uncaring. We are sending medical advise tomorrow. The swelling on his forehead hasn’t stopped.

Excellent food, our waiter James was such a delight and provided impeccable service. We had the lobster ravioli, the snapper fillet, ricotta cheesecake and vanilla gelato. Loved everything.

Despite many good reviews our experience was not so. The wait for the drinks was long, the drinks were not served in the proper glassware and apple martini was watery The food was mediocre ( ravioli felt as it was from yesterday, lobster meat is chewy, tuna tartar was so spicy that killed the taste of tuna) and over peppery. All 6 of us had very bad aftertaste we could not get rid of for over 3 hours. It is also greatly overpriced- for two people ( 1 appetizer, 1 pasta, 1 main dish and 3 drinks ) we paid almost $300 - not worth it! Hard to belief people gave it 4.7 rating out of 5 - perhaps reviewers were paid by the establishment? And keep in mind that it is impossible to hear live music unless you are in the bar due to the noise in the restaurant We would never come back.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday at La Fuga. We had not heard of it before, but found it online and were intrigued by the reviews. We had an amazing time, not only was the food fantastic, the service was phenomenal. We started our meal a bit late and they let us stay long after the restaurant had closed without ever rushing us. Thank you for such a great experience.
