The new concept for a French Bistro is working very well! The food is amazing, with many old favorites and some great new dishes - try them all! (For those who don't know, this used to be Russia House, and it continues to be owned and operated by the same exquisite Russia House hosts.) Visit once, you'll be hooked. Visit again, and you'll feel like you're being welcomed into their home.

The food was delicious. Loved my French onion soup and the chicken Payard. The beet salad was amazing as well as well as the crème brûlée. This is a nice romantic French restaurant in downtown Herndon -highly recommend.

Discovering a new French restaurant is rare, so I was hoping to like it. Upon entering, its subdued, elegant, and quiet (well… there was only one other party seated at 6:30 pm on a Thursday) It immediately gave off a 1970s French restaurant feel. Unfortunately, the experience after that would have been better left in the 70s too. Nothing about the food was bad. But the offerings and presentation techniques need to be updated by about 50 years. It also did not help that the matron argued with my dinner guest (the fellow who, ironically, had recommended this place,) that his steak was not really overdone b/c "it’s a thin steak anyway". It was overdone. When pushing $100 a person, she should have replaced his steak without any discussion. Badgering diners is probably the best way to ensure we’d not come back. If that was her goal, she succeeded. Unfortunately, the only thing contemporary about this restaurant is the prices.

For daughters bday who loves French food. We were the only table dining that evening so we had the whole restaurant and staff attention all to us. It is a beautiful setting and pleasant ambience. I usually gear toward loud and vibrant but the experience was surprisingly great. The food was delicious. Thank you! We all enjoyed our dining experience.

La Bonne Vie was an amazing experience all around! My husband and I have brought visitors from out of town and have dined there just the two of us.....when it was Russia House. We've always had exceptional service, food and the warmest welcoming and conversations with the owners. We will be coming back for sure.

Very attentive service, although we were on a weeknight. Appetizers, especially the macaroni with Gueyere cheese was to die for. The chicken in a crock was oversalted and had only dark meat. Avoid. Scallops were great. Pork was okay. But overall, we recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
