KONA Steak & Seafood was voted the "Best New Restaurant" winner on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula for 2023. Located in the popular Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey, just minutes from Carmel, Pacific Grove, & all Peninsula cities.
A fabulous menu! Enjoy fresh seafood, lobster, Hawaiian loco moco, fresh ahi tuna, a great bacon cheeseburger, bone-in rib eye, miso-glazed seabass, filet mignon, macadamia nut crusted halibut, entree salads, cioppino, seafood pasta, Maui onion soup, coconut curry soup, and a large host of enticing appetizers. My friend and I had a fabulous dinner last evening. We were greeted by our server immediately and she gave us the information about the specials of the day. She was gracious, and was very prompt with returning with our wine. She then took our order and checked back with us after our food arrived to make sure all was as it should be. I ordered the tempura sea bass tacos which I think are over the top delicious, and my friend ordered the grilled sand dabs, which she also loved. When she placed the order for the sand dabs, the server was quick to indicated the the grilled sand dabs had a panco crust, and may not look grilled. We thought that was a very thoughtful mention, so my friend would not be surprised if she did not see grill lines on the fish. The food was really delicious, and the recommended wine was perfect with the entree. We two friends were able to have a lovely conversation during dinner, even as the restaurant began to fill, and the noise level was such that our conversation did not have to be yelled across the table. We were also seated at one of the generous sized booths, which are so comfortable and afforded us a view across the restaurant where we observed many happy diners. The owners of the restaurant are the most gracious individuals I have encountered. You get a very comfortable experience. I made reservations, and they seated us as soon as we entered the restaurant. I cannot say enough about the owners and the quality of the products they prepare. I have been going to restaurants owned by them for over 20 years and I have never had a bad meal, a mistaken entree, or a rude wait person in those years. They know what they are doing and they do it really well.

This is must go to! Service was amazing from the moment we walked in the door until we walked out the door. The food was delicious! Plenty of parking available also.

We had a large party with kids and everyone had a wonderful time! We celebrated a bday and I loved that they remembered that from my reservation! We have always had a wonderful time every time we have come for dinner. It’s my daughters favorite restaurant!!!

Always a good place to have excellent food with an asian twist to complement burgers, loco-moco, awesome ahi, etc. Great theater with the dry ice desert show and a never empty lemonade. Very family and kid friendly,

The service was fine , however, it took approximately 1 hr to get our food. It appears that the kitchen needed more help.

We came for our anniversary dinner and ordered some appetizers. We had the Ahi tuna, the poke wontons, and kalua pork fired rice. All of it was amazing. The atmosphere was very strange and it felt cluttered, especially in their “gift shop”. It looked like a toy store/thrift shop. The lighting was nice but too many mismatched fixtures and everything clashed. The service was sub par. Our waitress took 10 minutes before acknowledging us. She forgot to put our drink order in and other tables sat after us were receiving their full drink order before we got one drink. She came to check on us once in the full 1.5 hours we were there. They also charge $3.23 to use your credit card for the bill and the tip options are based off of total with tax & the cc fee, so you’re paying tip for more than your meal and crappy service. I still have her more of a tip than deserved. All we ask is that you come by and say I will be with you in a minute I’m a bit backed up. That’s it. Just acknowledge us.
