   Service was good, however food was a hit and miss. I order the seafood trio, the crab cakes had shrimp in them, not a big fan. The seared tuna and coconut shrimp were good. It was served with purple potatoes that were cold in the middle and the veggies were just okay (under cooked and not seasoned. The rib appetizer were very good, but the ceasar salad was a hard pass. Wilted lettuce, thick dressing and store bought croutons. For the prices, I would have expected more attention to details in our food preparation.

   Food and service were excellent! They also accommodated a special request for a picky youngster.

   We have been to Kona many times, but this was the first time at Jackie Rey’s. We decided to go for our 45th wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly by the hostess who wished us happy anniversary and placed a shell Lai around our necks. Our table was fine, but the restaurant is basically on a main road and our view was the parking lot, you can see the ocean but wires restrict the view. Our waitress was busy, but attentive, pleasant and efficient. Our food and drinks were as ordered and served in a timely manner. We shared a Mediterranean salad, very good, my husband had a fish dish, he said it was excellent. I was disappointed by my steak, it was quite tough, but very flavourful. We shared a complimentary gelato, coconut and chocolate chip, really good. Meal was a bit overpriced imo, but it’s Hawaii and everything is overpriced.

   The fish of the day was excellent. Spring rolls good. Creme brulee not good. One of us broke a tooth on the crackle on top. Custard tasted like from a mix. The waiter was very helpful in our choosing the wine.

   The kampachi and tortellini were both terrific! The split decision drink was very good as well.

   Service was incredibly slow and we waited a very long time to get our order. Our server was very nice. We ordered the special of the day-swordfish because we love it. This was the worst one I’ve ever eaten. We couldn’t finish it.
