Just steps off Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel, California, Il Tegamino is Carmel's favorite hidden gem. Wander past Carmel's iconic candy shop to find us tucked behind boutiques in a courtyard off the beaten path. We are a tiny restaurant charmingly hidden in Carmel-by-the-Sea's first courtyard. Dine al fresco in our outdoor space within The Court of the Golden Bough courtyard complete with standing heaters and an awning or feel transported to an authentic Italian bistro in our bustling small dining room. We welcome you to come grab a glass of vino in our new wine room. As a local small business, you will often find owner Giuseppe at your table side to welcome you and serve his menu of Italian comfort food inspired by his upbringing in Southern Italy.

This 90 minute holiday workshop will take place outdoors in our charming courtyard. Price includes instruction, materials to craft up to 3 stems, and one glass of wine. We arrived an hour and a half earlier than our reservation. We didn't get the original table inside as we had planned, but was given a table outside, and it seemed a little more romantic of a setting. Service was great from beginning to end, and the Canneloni plate was phenomenal, the dessert was fantastic, the Lemon Sponge Cake. I will definitely come to this restaurant again when in the area.

First time here wanted to try out a different restaurant and everything was excellent. I came out to celebrate mom birthday dinner and she loved appetizers, entree and pastry. Highly recommended. I will be back again

Decent food. Terrible service. The waitress exchanged a total of 10 words with us for the entire dinner. Also suggested to tip 32%.

Il Tegamino is a hidden gem to say the least. My wife and I had been there in the past and had a nice time. We returned to celebrate our anniversary. And it was a great choice. Wonderful food and a lovely atmosphere made it perfect. The staff was kind and efficient…friendly and professional. The branzino special was delicious and my favorite, the cannelloni, the best I’ve ever tasted. We have leftovers !! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute, as well as every bite!! Thank you IlTegamino !!!

Wondering if the brothers still own the restaurant as neither was there the night of our dinner. Was not familiar with the servers. Ours was polite but a bit pushy and rushed us compared to previous dining experiences. It was not particularly busy for a Friday night Food was excellent, but the personal interaction w/staff disappointing.

I had high hopes for this place, especially after hearing so many glowing recommendations. Since our trip to Italy, I’ve been eager to try something described as ‘authentic,’ so we made a reservation to ensure we could experience it firsthand. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted and seated us, but unfortunately, our waitress’s attitude was far from welcoming. She made us feel out of place, and her condescending demeanor really dampened the mood for the rest of our dinner. We started with the parmigiana di zucchine as our appetizer, and when the waitress asked if we wanted bread to start, I assumed the bread and EVOO dip were complimentary, as is common in many restaurants. I was surprised to find we were charged $9 for it—definitely not worth that price. For our entrees, we ordered the fig ravioli and gnocchi, and the donuts and coffee for dessert. While all four dishes were fine, none stood out as memorable. It’s possible the waitress’s vibe affected my overall enjoyment of the meal. To make matters worse, when we received our bill, we noticed we were charged $44 instead of $22 for the gnocchi. When we brought this to the hostess’s attention, she was surprised by the typo on the menu and apologized. However, the waitress argued that we had ordered the dinner portion instead of the appetizer, which is why it was doubled. Regardless, the menu listed the same price ($22) for both the appetizer and dinner. I’m willing to give this place another chance, but next time, I’ll be sure to avoid being served by the same waitress.

I do remember the typo being brought to my attention by phone and my authorization to of course honor the price listed due to the mistake.
