We had a wonderful experience tonight. Although there was only one server on and she was new she did a wonderful job at managing to get to all of her tables, Be super friendly, extremely helpful and had a smile on her face the whole time. our meals were yummy and plenty of food!

I dined at Il Fornello last weekend for my small business Christmas party. There were 4 of us total. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm and while we were seated immediately, no one came to our table for 15 minutes. I could understand if it was really busy and the server or someone else came over to let us know they would be with us shortly but it was not busy at all. We were seated directly across from the servers station/kitchen so every server could see us. Our own server kept making eye contact with us but never came over ... several times throughout service. When she finally came over, she had brought 2 waters and said the other 2 were on their way. We waited another 10 minutes to get the other two waters. When she came back we decided to order everything (drinks, apps, and entrees) as we didn't know when she would be coming back. Not once did she apologize for the wait. One thing I thought was quite interesting was the "fresh parm" that was offered to us. We expected the grater to come out having freshly grated parmesan cheese on our pasta. This was not the case. She brought a bowl with a spoon and sprinkled what looked and tasted like the prepackaged shaker parm that you can buy from the store. We were nearly halfway done our entrees when she came back to check on us and see how our food was tasting. The food was good but nothing that was extraordinary that made the wait worth it. Overall it was not a good experience. I continued to apologize to my staff members for the lack of service we were getting. I'm never one to complain about service as I was a server once myself but I just couldn't believe the service we had. Our server seemed to just keep forgetting about us and talking with her coworkers before coming to check on us or greeting our table. I will always automatically give a 20% gratuity if service is good, but I just couldn't do it this night. Unfortunately, this dining experience doesn't make me want to rush back to the restaurant.

Slow service. Plated food was not appetizing and cold. Warm beer in chilled glasses as well. Very disappointing experience.

Menu items were unavailable. The Bruschetta was so heavy with the garlic no other flavours were detectable. The pizzas were good but the toppings were a bit sparse on the “pollo”. If we return we will try the pasta instead

Sadly, IL Fornello is not consistent. The st Catharine’s location today was far from good. No one enjoyed their meal. It can be different by location, not an expected experience

First visit, so we had many questions. Sophia and later, Dan eagerly answered them all. It was a quiet time when we visited, so food and service were prompt. All food was excellent, enjoyed the Moretti beer and 1/2 price apps at Happy Hour. Then we dined on the Caesar salad and Chicken parm. Both excellent. We were so impressed, we bought gift cards to give to family for Christmas. Definitely recommend!

I ordered chicken Asiago but received another chicken dish. When I told the server it wasn’t chicken Asiago she said it was but went back to check. She then informed me that the chicken Asiago was no longer offered. I ate the dish that was served because I didn’t want to reorder. The server said there was nothing she could do and gave me the email of the manager. I wasn’t even offered a discount. Disappointing because we eat here often but will not be back.

I was really looking forward to trying this place especially for the vegan food. It was very disappointing. The decor was below average for a restaurant charging what you are. I felt like I was in a cafeteria. For the money you charge for a salad it should be freshly made not refrigerated. One of our dinners was good but in general it was not of value at all. I wouldn’t go back.

We enjoyed IL FORNELLO. We’ve been a number of times both for supper and also takeout. Dan looked after us this time and he’s great. The food is really good.
