Im Restaurant Il Fornaio begeben Sie sich auf eine kulinarische Reise durch Italien. Am frühen Morgen locken knuspriges, heißes Bauernbrot direkt aus dem Ofen und der Duft von frisch gebrühtem Espresso. Mittags und abends köcheln Pastagerichte und würzige Soßen, und das Fleisch und Gemüse wird über Holzkohlen geröstet. Weine von kleinen Weingütern aus der Region ergänzen die Gerichte, die nach der Tradition italienischer Köche, Bäcker und Hausfrauen zubereitet werden. Zu den Spezialitäten des Hauses zählen Spießbraten vom Holzgrill sowie gegrilltes Fleisch, Geflügel und Wild. Die Pasta ist hausgemacht und die Pizza wird im mit Eichenholz befeuerten Holzofen gebacken. Auf der Speisekarte stehen auch frische Salate und hausgemachte Suppen, eine große Auswahl an Desserts und knuspriges Brot, das jeden Tag frisch gebacken wird. Das Restaurant gewann 2007 den Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

Looking for an indoor spot for a great lunch on a rainy day, my family and I chose Il Fornaio Del Mar ~ and got exactly what we were looking for! Everything was delicious, and our server was absolutely wonderful. I've always loved this place for special sunset dinners on warm nights, but it was also the perfect choice for a conversational lunch. Thanks so much!

My party loved their main courses and soup. I though thought my lasagna was very bland. Wine and dessert were excellent as was the service

I wanted a friend visiting from Canada to have a pleasant lunch with a beautiful Del Mar ocean view, so I thought of Il Fornaio. We both ordered Pollo alla Parmigiana, an Italian-American version of the "Melanzane alla Parmigiana. The presentation was frankly sloppy; the chicken was on top of the spaghetti, and even though the description read "breaded chicken breast topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella served with spaghetti pomodoro", both sauces' textures were the same and bland. The chicken was tender but needed seasoning, and a little color with green beans or broccoli, or at least a few basil leaves, would have been nice. It was not worth the 35 dollars for me. The server tried his best, but it was hard to deliver a good service with so many tables to attend to. I keep trying to give Il Fornaio a chance because I love their locations in Coronado and Del Mar, but in the end, I always regret dining here.

We had a very good meal. Enjoyed our cocktails and wine. The views from the front dining patio were awesome and we had a beautiful sunset! We will return soon.

I was in town visiting my farther and wanted to take him out to dinner. II Fornaio in Del Mar is not far from where my father lives in Encinitas. The charcuterie board was special appetizer and it was strongly recommended by the waiter and he was correct. I ordered the lasagna with béchamel with sausage and it was fantastic
