We are excited to welcome you to the YYC Food & Drink Experience opening dinner event: Knife Fight Vol. II, at Hawthorn Dining Room & Lounge in the Fairmont Palliser Hotel. In this culinary showdown Rupert Garcia of Hawthorn will face off against Matthias Fong from Primary Colours in a dining experience you won't want to miss! Both Chefs won gold at Calgary's Great Kitchen Party (Chef Garcia in 2023 and Chef Fong in 2024). As each course is served, the chefs will present their dishes, and you'll have the power to vote on who takes the crown. Every guest will receive a scorecard—who's dish will come out on top? Ticket Price is $175, which includes a complimentary welcome cocktail, canapes and a 3-course menu from each chef, and 18% gratuity.

Hawthorne's is THEE place for drinks and dinner downtown Calgary - full stop. Carolyn and Jessica were absolutely fabulous. The cocktails were exquisitely prepared and the dinner was sublime. Atmosphere was warm and inviting as well as elegant. 3 hours of sublime relaxation with friends while staff ensured we were well taken care of

Bobbi and the team at the Hawthorn dining room made my anniversary dinner a very special event. The food that was recommended to us was fantastic, worth every penny. The extra touches that they took to make the evening special for us will be a memory I will not soon forget. Thanks again for an amazing evening.

Last minute plans with partner. May reservations for Hawthorn. First time at spot. Flute Fridays was a pleasant surprise. Enjoyed several glasses. Musical entertainment in lounge area was very nice. Service was attentive. Had one cocktail and enjoyed the presentation and taste. Food was good. Price to be expected when located inside a Fairmont Hotel. Overall, very enjoyable and looking forward to coming back on Flute Fridays

Overall, good service and quality food. However, a couple of senior hotel staff used the bar as their office working away on their laptops and were unfortunately quite loud talking about business. Not enjoyable for a guest.

We had a disappointing experience at Fairmont’s Hawthorn Dining Room and Bar on Valentine’s Day. Our dinner reservation was for 10 p.m., but when I called ahead to see if we could get in earlier—even just at the Bar—I was not informed of any restrictions. When we arrived at 10, they seated us in the Bar instead of the Dining Room. Confused, we asked why, only to be told that the Dining Room closes at 9 p.m. and only the Bar menu is available after that. This was frustrating, as we had expected a full dining experience. While they eventually moved us to the Dining Room, we were still stuck with the limited Bar menu, which was mediocre at best. A lack of clear communication left us disappointed on what should have been a special evening.
