we signed up for an offer through Open Table for a Holiday Special to Buy 8 get 1 free. Nobody at the restaurant had ever heard of it. But they worked something out. But then they accidentally charged us for 12 people, instead of 8. So we had to rework the bill. One of the wait staff was friendly and attentive and worked to make sure this got sorted out, the rest of the wait staff wasn't much help at all and seemed like they genuinely didn't want to be there. This restaurant has a DIY element, with grills on the table to cook your own food. It would have been great for one of the staff to spend at least 10 seconds reviewing that with us. We had not idea what was coming, or when, or what to do with it. The first thing we got was 3 bags of foil dropped off, and dropped on the table with zero explanation. Anwyay, nice idea for a restaurant, but poorly executed. Would not return.

This place has horrible customer service. All of the waiters are inattentive. This will be the last time we step foot in this establishment.

The food serve was VERY slow, waiting for 30 minutes, no food was served (all you can eat). Also there are lots of things does not served today, very disappointed.

Though the waiter was kind. I made a note in my reservation that this was a special occasion and I did not feel like the restaurant lived up to that. I have dined at this chain a few times, I tend not to have expectations. BUT the las time I went the staff did great and were really attentive and I expected the same this time, but it was a bit of a let down. I took my significant other for their birthday, so I just wanted that to be acknowledged. The person was nice but it was a bummer to see others get perks when I specifically made the note and we didn't see anything come of it. Maybe I chose poorly, but so folks are aware maybe just tell the staff directly when you are celebrating something special.

Location is on the closed off side of San Pedro square for cars. Maps will take you the opposite end of the building.

The food took so long to come out. The portions were tiny so we had to order more. The food took long to come out the first time and second time. Even the dessert took a long time to come out. Saw lots of people sitting around waiting.

First time in the San Jose location. Free parking is hard to find but paid parking is available. I would prefer the Cupertino location better.

This was our first time at the San Jose location. Though they were out of some things, the food was very good. Portions are smaller than they used to be at other Gyu Kakus, but I guess that's everywhere these days. Example, only 4 small pieces of kalbi per order. But the quality was good. They did seem understaffed. We had trouble flagging down our waiter (or anyone) when we needed something. They even apologized about it. But overall our experience was a good (not great) one. Note that the entrance is actually not on Almaden, it's on San Pedro. Not sure why the address is on Alamden.
