Preset menu- which we knew- was not very much of a wow given the price point. Long waits between courses. Understand it was Valentine’s Day and busy- however this was a planned menu/dinner service. Small portion sizes- not very filling.

Just know you’re eating in a lobby of a hotel.
It’s bright and noisy. Which is fine if that’s what you’re going for.
Food was good. Some dishes better than others. Desserts left a lot to
Be desired. We tried two.

I had the mushroom risotto. The meal price was about $30. The portion size was about $10. The $20 burger my dinner date had was barely average. The searing was uncomfortable in that the bench along the windows is too short for the table. Service was excellent: attentive, polite. It was a disappointing meal.

For a savvy, sophisticated diner you will appreciate some subtle nuisances that shows the chef and team understand that fine dining is more than throwing ingredients into a hot pan. The elements that compose the dishes are complex and demonstrate both depth and clarity in the chef's vision. Each ingredient shows a fastidiousness and exactness where the pepitos (pumpkin seeds) had just the right toasting, the pappardelle was al dente and the shrimp were delicate and perfectly prepared.
The menu doesn't pay enough homage to the French rubric in their self-description of French cuisine. But enough of a nod to be recognized and saluted. Where the restaurant falls short is in its service starting at the front host stand where the gatekeeper feels more like an ogre than the maitre dame. The service was polite but infantile in its completely inferior and elementary knowledge of the menu, its reference points, how it's made, and what it portends to be. The server see his role as a delivery boy rather than a tour guide. When asked for a few menu descriptions, crusty shards of overly used jargon (such as "yes, it's tasty" or regard to a cheese description "it's not spicy". The timing of the meal was thrown off by our server who was pleasant and cordial at every table because (it appeared) he was one of two servers for a whole restaurant. Polite and pleasant yet unable to crack the whip of mastering mind melting descriptions of basic questions about the menu that set the dinner guest at ease for their gastronomic adventure. Great service teams whip the guests into a gastronomic frenzy by mastering their context. This was akin to the librarian filling in for the football coach. Nice but not commanding.
The wine list is brief and lacks enviable "oomph"
We chose cheese as dessert which show little knowledge of the whizzy world of fermented milk. At $240 for two it was not the experience we had hoped for. But I'm jaded. It "tasted good" but fine dining is much more than that.

I will confess that the menu was much smaller than anticipated and we got the brunch menu, which I understood because of it being New Years Day. I saw this as a good thing because to me, the smaller the menu, the better the food is going to be. Boy I was right and my gut told me to get the risotto.
While my mom and I waited for our food, we were taking in and enjoying the quiet ambiance and we did get to enjoy the Perry Glass exhibit after we finished. It’s worth checking out. When our food arrived, I already knew I was in for a treat because the earthy, cheesy and creamy aroma filled the air and I couldn’t wait to dig in. The presentation looked like an art piece and I knew I was in for a treat.
OH. MY. GOD. It’s the best risotto I’ve ever tasted and according to Shantal, our server, it’s not a regular menu item of theirs, but it should be because the little mushrooms on the top were crispy like bacon and I had a take a picture of the masterpiece because I knew it was going to vanish in minutes. If the chefs are reading this, please make it a regular menu item.
My mom was disappointed in her steak, but she was already in a bad mood. However, she enjoyed the Perry Glass exhibit and agreed to come back when the Glass Light offers their regular dinner menu.
We will be back to enjoy the bougie elegance and masterpieces of the Glass Light and dig into more of its ambrosia in the future!
