Nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, our newest Gaucho location marks a return to London after a decade of regional expansion. Set within an extension of the iconic Royal Opera House, Gaucho adds a vibrant new chapter to one of the city’s most culturally rich districts.

Inspired by the artistic energy of Covent Garden and the passion of Buenos Aires' tango clubs, the design of the restaurant features striking elements that reflect both the local heritage and our Argentine roots. The interiors combine bold design statements with a base palette that nods to our Argentinian heritage, creating a space that's as dynamic as it is stylish.

On the ground floor, the atmosphere is bright and inviting—ideal for everything from Tango performances and relaxed business lunches to afternoon drinks. Downstairs, the basement offers a more intimate, theatrical experience, with rich, pleated curtain walls inspired by the dramatic red-draped stages of the West End theatres.

We went to Gaucho in Covent Garden for my son's 18th Birthday last Saturday night. We booked in advance and our table was downstairs. It is ENERGETIC, with a DJ, pulsing music and the dinner was accompanied by a team of tango dancers in true Argentinian fashion. It was huge fun and the dancers were spectacular. The other diners seemed to love it, and we certainly did. We opted for starters and steaks, with a glass of champagne and a good Argentinian Malbec. The food was excellent, the fillet steak being just perfectly cooked. Sides were generous and really a good accompaniment. Above all, our waiter, Luca, was just a perfect gentleman. Nothing was too much trouble. He was wonderful and very kind. I'd arranged before for some kind of cake to be given to my son, but Luca and the team prepared a special apple crumble - my son's favourite desert. It capped off a terrific evening. I very much recommend Gaucho for a wonderful, fun, noisy Saturday night. The DJ was great but the music is kind of loud. So be prepared to have to shout a bit when the tunes start to flow. But if tango and music and good food is your thing, you've a treat in store.

Managed to get a last minute table for six of us at Gaucho Covent Garden. Sat downstairs, there's a DJ and fairly loud music. The starters were excellent - sausages, scallops, cured salmon, grilled prawns, as were the steaks (especially spiral-cut marinaded sirloin) except my mum's rumpsteak is just tough. However, excellent service - no argument, they brought her another, much better. Had the basque cheesecake and chocolate deserts. Argentinian sparkling wine very good too. The odd thing we hadn't realised was that Saturday is Dance-off day - four couple dance tangoes around the diners downstairs, to very loud accompaniment. On the one hand, that's kinda cool and adds atmosphere; but it also blots out the conversation and only half the table can see it. So would have been happier without it, but it definitely didn't spoil our evening. The whole place is very lively, definitely has a better buzz than some other Dead Serious steakhouses... If you want quiet, you might want to ask for a table upstairs.

Our party of 5 had an amazing time at Gaucho Covent Garden! From the booking experience, the reception, the outstanding service, delicious food, perfect ambience. Cherry on the cake the live tango dancers. It was a bit pricey but overall well worth it. We will be back. Thanks for the lovely evening.

We went for the legacy menu and ordered some bits from the main menu too. Yannis was our server and he was 10/10 all round, polite, attentive, funny, just a great guy. Food was outstanding as always. This was our first time at the Covent Garden branch and it did not disappoint. Will definitely return.

Loud restaurant with tables a bit too close to each other. Service speed was fine but mushrooms came that weren't ordered and butternut squash didn't! Almost finished the steak by the time the squash arrived. Charged for the mushrooms which we did not order but not for the squash. No compensation for the mistake. Dessert was apple crumble, told it would take 15 minutes but actually took 33. One of our fillets was a bit fat which was unusual. Taste was good though. Won't go back to this branch. The meat is the best you can get but the service could be better. Other branches of Gaucho have been better.
