"36 By El Faro" is one of the only high-end restaurant in the world situated at the top of a Lighthouse.
Formerly known as "El Faro", it has been one of the country’s most beloved bar institution for the past 20 years.
Many birthdays and special occasions have been celebrated in this unique landmark.
After going through a major refurbishment at the end of 2022 and under a new ownership, "36 By El Faro" as now reopened as a Restaurant, Bar and Art Gallery.
With a 360 degrees view of Puerto Vallarta, "36 By El Faro" offer an intimate, chic and contemporary experience, characterized by warmth and hospitality.
"36 By El Faro" delivers a unique, international blend of American, Mexican and French cuisine with music, art and a striking view of Puerto Vallarta and the Marina.

The the staff were lovely. The food was ok but expensive and the restaurant was much too loud. We couldn’t hear each other and my sister’s Apple Watch kept warning her about the decibel levels.

I hate to say it, but they need a better chef. We have been three times and each time we keep hoping the food will get better. We go because the views are great, but it’s super loud, more importantly, though the food is really bland. Such a bummer.

It was all I was hoping for - a sublime meal in a romantic setting overlooking one of the prettiest views I’ve ever seen! The father and son who own and host this lighthouse restaurant greeted us warmly and gave us just the right amount of attention and perfect service. We chose one of the “sampler” plates so we could share seafood and beef and other complementary sides. We don’t drink alcohol so we got delicious “mocktails” - very pretty. For dessert they prepared a crepe in orange sauce with ice cream right at our table to top off our meal in style! Lovely experience. We were delighted we had chosen El Faro for my birthday dinner.

The drinks were creative and divine! The appetizers were enough to be a meal! The fabulous food offered so much flavor and a mix of bursting flavors in each bite. Loved the entire experience. Make a reservation!

Overpriced, mediocre food. Facilities are dated and not well maintained. This restaurant gets buy on the location and views. That’s it.

We dined here for a New Year’s Eve Party. It was really lackluster. Aside from a few balloons, I didn’t get a party feel at all. The food was just average. Way over priced. We frequent this area and there are many other options that better. Save your money!
