   Great decor and location…we were excited to try this place as we live Cuban food, I am from Central America…when we arrived it was not busy and since I made a reservation we were seated promptly…our waiter came to take drink order, he never did introduce himself so I do not know his name. We ordered a few appetizers and when delivered no side plates included, we had to ask. We also had to ask for bread. I had been looking forward to the pork chop on the menu all week…sadly I was disappointed, when I cut into the meat it was under cooked for my liking and once I flagged down our server I told him to please send back and have kitchen cook it longer; the server returned and informed me that the kitchen said that is how it is served because it is smoked and then asked if I wanted to select another entree…At this point I had already become frustrated, the table service was as lacking and we had to ask for plates to be removed, generally in a more upscale restaurant the staff is more attentive and also scrap any crumbs etc from table cloth while bringing another set of silverware for the entree. We did have to ask for another drink, our server was also busy being the bartender; a manager came over and apologized about the pork chop and then another person did the same. Here’s the thing; I am the customer, if I asked to have my pork chop cooked more well done the kitchen should have done so with out any opinions…I don’t like to eat undercooked pork or chicken. I told the manager this and he agreed. As it turns out I did indeed suffer gastrointestinal issues shortly into dinner after taking one bite of the pork chop. I wouldn’t completely rule this place out but I will never order the pork chop. For management; please inform your guests that the pork chop if ordered will be cooked to the kitchen’s liking only.

   First time will NOT be the last. Food was great! Loved the decor (we were out back but not outside) our choice. Dined early due to time constraints, but can't wait to go back at a leisurely pace! Food, service, drinks all a thumbs up!

   The tastes were very authentic and the portions generous. The service could be a bit more attentive. Our waiter appeared to have less experience.

   I’ve been waiting for an authentic upscale Cuban restaurant in the Sarasota area and it’s finally here! I am Cuban and grew up eating delicious Cuban food. My mother is an excellent cook and has taught me to make many of the traditional dishes. Many restaurants claim to have Cuban food, however, most are a mix of other Carribean dishes. Cuba 1958 is authentic. The croquettes are delicious and so is the shrimp cocktail.. the steak was delicious . The yucca was amazing and so was the congri. This is a restaurant not a cafeteria. The ambience is classy. They have a great assortment of wines and liquors. I was very pleased with the service and attention. I tried to convince the owner to open one in Lakewood Ranch. My husband and I will be returning. It’s worth the drive.

   Fantastic food and service! Unique ambience and very generous portions. Eating our leftovers tonight! Can’t wait to return to try other menu items.

   Superior flavor profiles, nice presentation. It is a shame that the restaurant does not feature its terrific bowls on the dinner menu - even at a higher price, the bowls are the real flavor gems of the restaurant and leaving them off of the dinner menu is quite unfortunate.

   Had the slow roasted pork (first entree listed) and it was fantastic, Also enjoyed the chickpeas and ham small plate. It was enough for 4 of us to have a substantial taste. Service was rather slow, but very polite. Food was great!
