Claudio Pirollo grew up in Belgium where he soon discovered his passion for cooking as he wandered around his father’s fine Italian épicerie (grocery store) and watched his mother prepare dinner every day. The dual influence of Italy and Belgium triggered Chef Pirollo’s aspirations to develop his knowledge and experience with different flavors.
A Trattoria is not a pizzeria, it is an Italian-style eating establishment that is generally much less formal than a ristorante but more formal than an osteria. It is similar to what the French call Bistrot.
Trattorias are traditionally family owned, casual, rustic neighborhood restaurants found throughout all of Italy that offer fresh, regional, local and family specialties on the menu.

We had an amazing dinner this past Sunday. A bottle of Nebbiolo to open the night, an appetizer, the Antipasta Platter (special for the day), and dinner. Two of us had the special, Calamarata Pasta (clams, mussels, prawns), the other dinner was the Cavatelli with Sausage and Rapini. The dessert was the Olive Oil Cake, delicious! The service was excellent, food was served hot, and the place was packed! Quite the gem of a restaurant. We're looking forward to our next visit.

Our first visit to Claudio's. We will definitely return. Drinks and appetizers were really good. The arugula salad is simple, but elegant. As was the prosciutto. Even the breadsticks were special. The cacio pepe, a classic preparation. We ordered a Margherita pizza. Perfect crust and delicious cheese. Dessert was an affogato and the ricotta donuts were divine. The service was friendly and prompt. I can understand why this is a neighborhood gem. We are glad we discovered it on Open Table for a last minute reservation.

Great service and food. The short ribs were outstanding and the bruschetta was amazing.

The food was delicious and a great value. The staff was very welcoming and made us feel like regular customers.

The only reason for the high noise level was due to a woman next to us who was incredibly loud and she impacted our dining experience. Other than this we love Claudio’s Table! It is one of our favorite restaurants and we will be back!!

Gio was very kind. I also met Claudio who was very welcoming. The overall experience was perfect for Valentine’s. I got the short rib with the potatoes and my date got the pasta alla vodka. We enjoyed our food. Service was quick as well

We have a lovely time and delicious meal on Valentine’s Day. Claudio’s Table has become our new favorite — the food, drinks and service are superb, and the ambiance is really pleasing. It feels like a coveted, special neighborhood place (which it is) which you don’t get in many other areas of DC.
